Visited my local gamestop today and asked if an updated switch is coming

And yes, an employee told me a more powerful switch is coming out. Keep an eye on Nintendos youtube channel at E3 she said.

I havent kept track on the other rumored updated switch threads here, but is it more or less confirmed that it is coming out? I havent bought a switch yet because I have been waiting for this rumored upgrade.

OP, you're being dunked on, but the official rumour (as reported by Nikkei) is that the less powerful version comes out first (end of the year), with the more powerful one following later on.

I've only worked in one but knew a bunch of people who've worked in game stores. I and they get told Jack shit.

We get P.O.S sometimes the day before a reveal. Sometimes on the day of reveal early in the morning.

Then, you get the soul crushing feeling that on your early shift, you're taking down so many posters, banners and such JUST to put new ones up all over the fucking store at 7am.

A friend made me memorize re2 down to even dialogs (used to beat it under 3 hours without saving and without getting bitten) all in efforts of unlocking akuma, whom does a high roundhouse kick that totally exploded zombies head. Hope that fucker is at least in jail.

You're catching flak because you asked a retail employee about a rumored hardware release and you think their answer is worth something. As a former EB Games employee I can tell you they're talking out of their ass.

unless something is close enough to release to be in the system for pre-order, gamestop employees won't have any secret scoops. he's another dude who likes games going off of online rumors.

It's just some fan that works there that probably reads a place like this or reddit. If it was some sort of actual common knowledge they'd probably be trying to get you to buy the base system and ignoring anything they can't actually collect money for.

OP, don't listen to GS employees. Half of them don't know squat and are simply speculating. A more powerful Switch is simply a rumor at this point. I would take what he/she said with a grain of salt.

1. WSJ and other outlets have reported Nintendo is working on new hardware for release in the future.
2. Nintendo has confirmed that they will not show new hardware at E3.
3. Gamestop employees don't know more than you do.
