Lol, she cant get brownie points for something she caused. She was a great character until the cop out too. She would be one of the greatest cartoon villains if she didnt cop out at the end, but she did and that just ruins her character. Alot of people wjo feel like this also think that this wouldnt be an issue if they had developed more on her character having a change of heart than right at the end of the show, but unfortunately she doesnt.
There is a long list of mistakes Catra made. But she wasn't responsible for Season 5 or Horde Prime. That was entirely Glimmer & Light Hope. Had Glimmer done nothing, Catra would've defeated herself and the entire show would've ended after the 2nd Hordak v Catra fight. Season 4 & 5 is Glimmer grabbing the idiot ball so that Catra isn't the only fuck up

And I don't think Catra copped out at the end. She remained herself until the very end. The only difference is that after she hit rick bottom, she finally started opening up. She was still an asshole with abandonment & mommy issues.

If you wanted Catra to remain a villain, then you wanted her to remain dead. Both narratively & thematically, Catra had to go through the arc she did. It's just the speed & execution that's debatable.

100% agree she shouldve stayed dead.

The fact that the only way to finally get him to stop was to perform a Sending on him after you finally decommission him in his last boss fight was just....weird. Yuna basically laying his soul to rest in peace. The same thing she did to the poor folks who got killed by Sin.

And I mean....I get it. According to that world's laws if she didn't, he'd just get back up and start doing more of what he was doing...just frustrated that you couldn't properly punish him. And there was no way he would have a redemption arc, because that would mean he'd pass on willingly on his own after whatever epiphany he could have had.
Personally, I find it an appropriate end. Seymour did unforgivable things and deserved no "redemption", but he himself was a victim. Having gone through what he did, I'm not sure anyone would come out not fucked up. So while he didn't deserve to be redeemed, he did deserve to be put to rest.

Frieza got more than enough of a comeuppance with his death from Trunks.

Then Super decided he should be allowed to back unchecked.

Seladon in the Dark Crystal series (Netflix), she barely gets punished for her horribly treasonous actions, she even gets a "redemption" kind of final arc which is completely unearned. I wrote about it before here.

Star Twinkle Pretty Cure

Darknest/Ophiuchus, the leader of the villains. Their stated goal is to conquer the universe and drain it of light, which is whatever, and most of them have sympathetic backstories anyway. Not Ophiuchus. She's basically a goddess that helped create the universe, but ended up unsatisfied since some sentient beings used their imagination/free will to do bad things. So she wanted to reboot the universe. She got kicked out of her group for that and ended up building up her power base to do it anyway. Part of that process was destroying at least one inhabited planet (probably countless), then manipulating the sole survivor as her lead general. Her minions turned against her when she revealed she was going to kill everyone, and she had no problem leaving them for dead. She then proceeded to actually destroy the universe via black hole spam and kill everyone. Well except the heroines who beat her and fixed the destroyed universe problem.

So what was her punishment for omnicide? Well the heroines are too nice to actually kill, so that's out of the question. Do they imprison her? Take away her powers? Make her see the error of her ways? Get her to apologize? None of that, absolutely nothing. Everyone just lets her run off to do whatever. She's lost her universe destruction process, but she's still a powerful being who absolutely can try to do it all over again later on. Which she says she will do if she doesn't see improvement in the universe. Obviously she's not the only person who's caused massive problems even in the show, and a lot of those people are still out there in the universe. The heroines themselves certainly can't fix everything since it's a whole universe. That and they lose their powers 5 minutes later. Oh, and the planets she destroyed are still gone. Her former minions are still pissed at her, but they'll never catch her and seem to have given up eventually. So while she's been convinced to stand down for now, she'll almost certainly return in a century or so to do it all over again.

Vic Mackey.

Guy caused so much carnage but managed to come out of it with the only punishment being transfered to a desk job. He admitted to Murdering a fellow cop ..torture ...theft etc etc. His confession scene was so awesome.
