I mean, when Easy Allies has a hard time pulling the patreon numbers they need, I know WayPoint is going to have a rough go. But anything is something.I'm not sure they have the numbers to sustain themselves that way...
That was my only experience with Waypoint and it was awful. Quickly moved to Slaent with many others due to how restrictive Waypoint was.I hope their forum survives. I remember they accommodated some of the great GAF exodus until Resetera was up.
Giant Bomb's budget for the year is probably already set and I doubt they have enough to play with to Hire any new people.
Waypoint forums let everyone know they are not about sales and hype culture. Ex-GAF members either had to adjust or come here. That was my only experience with Waypoint and it was awful. Quickly moved to Slaent with many others due to how restrictive Waypoint was.
Besidess, Patrick would need to stay remote, and that's not sure conducive to how GB works. Austin feasibly could, but I don't know if he'd even want to.Fuck that sucks

I would love nothing more, but I don't see it happening.

I feel like Patrick really messed up by leaving Kotaku. He could've had that job for as long as he wanted.Besidess, Patrick would need to stay remote, and that's not sure conducive to how GB works. Austin feasibly could, but I don't know if he'd even want to.
Not unless you have an alternate stream, like GB Premium or Patreon, for sure. It's also why IGN does so much sponsored content, they couldn't survive just off ad revenue. The old model just isn't sustainable anymore. Waypoint was an incredible site, but I always got a bit of a "long-form articles and very little video? I'm not sure how long this will last" vibe from it.Last time I checked, ad block rates were 40%+ on gaming websites - can't survive without that revenue.
that job looked like torture from the outside, i cant imagine what it was like from the inside.I feel like Patrick really messed up by leaving Kotaku. He could've had that job for as long as he wanted.
I hope not because I don't think they really were right for GB in the long run, I hope they keep doing their own thing which seems like it was a really good fit for them and if they appear on GB content occasionally than great.
I like Jason, but yeah. Give me Patrick on either the Bombcast or Beastcast PLEASE.You're probably right but I just want them back. Ben, Jason and Abby are boring.
that isnt happening, they have highered 2 new staffers since they left. also they dont do remote anymore
How so? I never got the impression people disliked working at kotakuthat job looked like torture from the outside, i cant imagine what it was like from the inside.
Damn and they just started a podcast talking about Kingdom Hearts lore.
I guess this is the Kingdom Hearts curse
Tweets and video gets more engagement than long written articles
Probably says more about you than it does them? That was my only experience with Waypoint and it was awful. Quickly moved to Slaent with many others due to how restrictive Waypoint was.
Meh, I don't think he messed up. Waypoint was an incredible opportunity for him to help start up something that truly meant something to him. Kotaku may have had stability, but it wasn't the kind of content Patrick wanted to put out (or was good at). Anytime Patrick published something at Kotaku, it felt super out of place with the rest of what they did. Honestly, the same was true of Giant Bomb to a degree.I feel like Patrick really messed up by leaving Kotaku. He could've had that job for as long as he wanted.
Define restrictive lolThat was my only experience with Waypoint and it was awful. Quickly moved to Slaent with many others due to how restrictive Waypoint was.
Journalism is taking major hits this week, yo. Buzzfeed, now Vice. I wonder if Vox/Polygon are next.
