I was the same way until recently when I came across a toomics ad, you can look it up yourself.
I mean I wouldn't say that that's it's still my preference but I think the ridiculous story lines and the story immersion is what turns people on, for me at least. It's like reading visual erotica.

I mean I appreciate where you are coming from but everything about hentai just turns me off. It could also be a generational thing as my first experience with anime/manga was Akira in the 90's.
I'm not really interested in converting anyone to hentai or anything like that, I just find it kind of odd to have an aversion to porn simply because it's illustrated. There's certainly a lot of bad hentai, but there are also some great artists who can do really striking and erotic work. But to each their own!
I don't know if the quote is actually legit or not, but the image is from Night Shift Nurses (aka Night Shit Nurses), so could definitely be a legit quote.

At the same time...a lot of yaoi does tend to depict non-consensual scenarios, so they're not mutually exclusive tags.
They're pretty much the sole source for quite a few popular artists that will always be in high demand (and are unsurprisingly some of the ones that got the most hits back when Fakku wasn't street legal, so to speak), but aside from publishing the Urotsukidoji series and a couple of other things, they're not really a source for much of anything beyond vanilla these days. Which is absolutely fine, since some of that scene's artists are still the best out there, but variety is the spice of life, and a diet of just vanilla won't do for a lot of folks.
