Didn't someone point out that they'd need something, like, 500,000$ (as a bond?) just to start the appeals process, to prove that they have the money to continue or something like that.

That was me. It's called a supersedeas bond and in Texas the maximum value of the bond is the lesser of half the net worth of the judgement debtor or US $25 million. Since Vic's net worth is supposedly mid 7-figures he's going to have to put up the full value of the judgement to appeal.

Incidentally, this is why Gawker couldn't appeal their case. Their supersedeas bond was going to be $50 million and they couldn't front it.

Seems Vic's fans aren't the only ones making death threats. Vic's lawyer did too.

Video's from a June 3rd Nick stream.

Multiple people in that thread and in Nick's own thread with that tweet point out that no, oral evidence does not supersede written evidence as best evidence in contract law. It is assumed that the final written contract, if one exists, represents a compromise of all parties previous written agreements. Nick arguing that written contracts are inferior evidence to oral contracts is factually wrong and dangerously misleading to Vic's case. As pointed out, there are multiple ways they could have obtained documentation to verify an oral agreement, "it was assumed" or "I don't have that today" was never going to pass the bar of clear evidence.
I mean there is a reason people say "put it in writing". So that everyone knows exactly what is happening and there can be no confusion or take backs

What a amazing fucking strategist, first asking people to doxx their critics and now fantasizing about the defendents being murdered by deranged vicstans.

Truly the Sun Tzu of our generation.

I for one am shocked they'd reject the judge's decision, and resort to threatening murder.

See, those are the very same people that yell ''Not guilty until proven otherwise by a court!!'' when someone comes out as a victim.

This is what they say when they lose anyway.

These threats should be taken extremely seriously and the dude who wrote them arrested ASAP.

Is Nick actually down as one of the lawyers or is he just the mouth piece?

Needs to be a threadmark or added to the OP or something that no, the Bounding Into Comics article on Chris Sabat isn't really legit so that people stop popping in to ask multiple times per page.

Not a long term one. Just a wide net hoping to catch as many as possible.

Think of this.

The recent "Funileak" had Sean Schemmel using the f-word, but the conVics were all obsessing with Sabat's mulit character lewd scene.

Huber's affidavit, which based on some had some parts removed. (Remember kids edit your pdfs in Acrobat not Photoshop Element) , never cites Sabat as the casting couch person.

But the conVics and altish-rightish youtube and all that want that to stick. So they post it everywhere and even people on Era find it.

So the people who are only casually interested will find the bullshit rather than what's actually going on.

See my annoyance that Google ever suggests BoundingintoComics to.

Now imagine someone without our the savvy just randomly looking up. Thanks to Mr. Duchette for making some things show up in a Google search.
Wasn't the casting couch thing some "I heard Funimation used a casting couch to cast some VAs" hearsay mostly as an attack against Funimation as a company and less a personal attack, though with maybe a not so subtle hint-hint-nudge-nudge to give the impression to impressionable ISWV idiots that it's Sabat. Ultimately Vic is the only one with a proven relationship of some kind with someone who worked on something where Vic could have had the power to hire her through such actions.

Yes. Sabat is not named as a person using a "casting couch" but the conVics decided it must be him.

I remember the first day of the "leaks" a conVic claimed he toured Funimation and "saw the casting couch" as in, didn't realize that the term is a just a way to describe a horrible act of casting parts, instead thought that it was an actual couch at Funimation.

I'd actually be somewhat surprised if Vic lets them appeal this for a variety of reasons.
1) Vic clearly doesn't actually give a shit about the lawsuit. In his Depo he stated as much.
2) He would need to put up a massive amount of money up front for it for something that is most likely going to fail.
3) The GFM wont cover it.
4) getting around 2 & 3 would rely on 1 not being true. But from his depo it seems like Vic only agreed to the lawsuit because Nick funded it with the GFM and told him he'd win.

What would be really interesting to me if he does appeal is whether he hires an actual appellate lawyer or if Beard's bio on the BHBH webpage will suddenly include a new specialisation in appellate law...

Wasn't Vic a no-show at this trial? Between that and his attitude during the deposition, Vic doesn't seem to actually care about this lawsuit all that much.

Which makes it funnier that he's probably unaware of the two morons going around, burning down what little reputation he has left.

I guess that's what you'd get from people who saw the "literal piece of shit" argument and thought, yep, sounds legit

It's funny because outside of coming clean and owning up to anything, him quietly distancing himself from this disaster is the most sound-of-mind showbiz tactic. If it weren't for this lawsuit, he'd even manage to skulk away for a while and salvage what little sway and influence he has, maybe join a right wing studio, or an online channel etc. But, because of this mess of a lawsuit he himself started (before becoming somewhat aware of how bad it is), he has amplified the extent of damage to himself and his livelihood further than he ever feared. Beautiful.

Yup. If he had put out a sincere apology to all the people he'd harmed, made some bullshit statement about going on a journey of healing and self-discovery, and went off the radar for 6 months, he would have been able to salvage a portion of his career. Instead, Nick convinced him to put all his chips on Beard, and now there's no coming back from this.

Then we get to see ISWV say "Damn this world, Vic was on the verge of absolute victory if it weren't for this biased and expensive judicial system."

As always these people would be so easy to convince of The State of Things if they weren't motivated so strongly specifically by sexist and racist animus.
I mean they'd still be kind of wrong because Vic is the plaintiff here...

Neat. An update was posted on the transcript GFM:

"We talked with the court reporter and received the invoice this morning!

Unfortunately they don't take digital payments, so we're mailing off a check today. We'll let you know when we have the transcript! "

Hubert probably getting canned, Haberkorn... depends on if he opens his mouth again or not since most people forgot that whole debacle. And he'll still do watch mojo videos for YouTube I guess.

I can see them letting Haberkorn finishing Fairy Tail, there's like, what, a dozen or so episodes left of this 300 something episode series? But after that he's done. I don't think he really does much for Funimation anymore anyway. Also Derrick Snow sounds a lot like him anyway in case something Hetalia ever comes back)\

I'm well aware Vic is a shitbag, but what's up with Sabat? I see a post that seems to indicate there's a bit of alt right trying to pin something on him? I've only vaguely heard it in passing but know nothing of it.

I explained it to someone else yesterday so I'll link you to that post.

If you want to confirm what I'm saying directly, you can find Chuck Huber's affidavit (where most of the demonization of Chris Sabat comes from) along with the other evidence through the threadmarks.

Here's the ANN thing.

Okay, thank you. Wanted to make sure I was somewhat informed on this, so I'll read through this.

Someone pointed out that you needed a bar license to keep your phones, so only people with a bar license were able to livetweet. Screen didn't livetweet and he didn't have his phone.

To be fair you're not typically allowed to livetweet , I can believe screech didn't take his license since he was just going there to be part of the audience, not in an official capacity.

It was because he's not licensed in Texas I believe.
Although the person above saying he doesn't need bar membership is correct, bar membership is voluntary in Minnesota.
