Not liking that it's been rebooted at a new developer and still expected to release in ~2 years (and realistically a bit less time than 2 years if the show is out any other date than December 31 2023).
No idea what the structure of their deal was with Sony, but hopefully there aren't impending layoffs or studio closure for them…
Or both just like Firesprite is collaborating with GG on Horizon Call of the Mountain.
My ideal Twisted Metal is probably different than what they'll end up making, though. I like exploring sprawling levels with lots of secret areas and stuff, but they're probably going with a smaller arena shooter.
Can you say when this dev change happened? If is fairly recent or if it was months ago.Despite some reporting at the time, these listings were *not* for Twisted Metal.
To be fair, this is very similar to how Ratchet bounced back. Needing a game (The remake) to release alongside another media project. It really just seems like it's this. The question I'm asking, though, is who thought a Twisted Metal TV show would be a good idea in the first place?
No London Studio is working on a "'brand new, next-gen IP".So this is what London Studio is working on? Can't say I'm hyped.
Ya I grew up playing Twisted Metal…but I really don't see it as something that is competable with the games of today. Let's see thoughI also think Twisted Metal is just... a relic of the past.
I just dont see people dedicating serious time to playing the game. It was fun in the 90s but there's no real enjoyment to the formula that would work today in the age of competitive online multiplayer.

Yeah.Just cancel it. Don't waste multiple developers' time and resources on Twisted Metal of all things. 🤷♂️
Good luck to Lucid, though. Being thrown off a project has to hurt them.
I just don't understand who is asking for this game. And now it appears to have some level of troubled development on top of the general lack of interest?
Seems like this might be a disaster.

Agreed. Games never really sold all that well, it's weird to see Sony try so hard rebooting it.Just cancel it. Don't waste multiple developers' time and resources on Twisted Metal of all things. 🤷♂️

So Lucid still working with Sony?I wouldn't expect to see the game for a while if that's what you're asking. They'll be aiming to launch around that TV show. It was long enough ago that Lucid is hiring for a different project.
Nah man, DA was an absolutely atrocious game. I am glad they are moving Twisted Metal.Man, I'm sorry for Lucid, I think Destruction Allstars had potential, and another try in the car combat genre would have worked really good.
I hope they don't get into problems.
Twisted Metal is a bit like F-Zero, that kind of IP that has some dedicated fans but I don't think that have a premise for today.I honestly don't think Twisted Metal is an in demand I.P.
Sure it has it's fans(what doesn't?)but I'm not sure there'd be enough interest for the series today.
IMO nah, and one iffy first game doesn't mean the next one would be iffy too.Nah man, DA was an absolutely atrocious game. I am glad they are moving Twisted Metal.
Guerrila are in Amsterdam, Housemarque are in Helsinki.
Doubt it's either of them though, surely?
No he's saying their contract expired long enough ago that Lucid has another project already in the works. Sony is still aiming for a 2023 release for Twisted Metal.
Yall also note the new dev is a recent Sony purchase....We heard the same thing late last year. Apparently the change was very sudden and unexpected: https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2022/01/twisted-metal-ps5-reboot-studio-swapped-mid-development
Has Jaffe made any comment about this supposed reboot?
And how was the other one?
He worked on the previous PS3 reboot, no?David Jaffe? Oh, he vanished after the first God of War, never been heard from afterward.
