Valve is allowing racist bots to invade ‘Team Fortress 2’

This isn't a new or unfamiliar issue for those who play TF2 regularly. Valve hasn't cared about the game for ages. It's been infested with bots and cheaters for a long time now.

The gaming industry could look at how the web industry got ride of industrial email spammers two decades ago : with heavy prison sentences and financial penalties against organisers, and some new contractual obligations when using or accessing email services.

Sadly par for the course for Valve's non-commitment to fighting that. Searched for players named "Hitler" on Steam out of curiosity, and it found a cool...48k results.

I know this isn't what's most important on a fundamental level but the bots are also aimbotting so basically the matchmaking, which nobody wanted and killed community servers, is unplayable.

This is IMO one of the problems with steam not only TF2, if isn't the biggest it sure feels like it. If this thread had EGS it would have thousands of reply shiting on valve.

But since it is minorities, it won't happen; people won't care as they never do. It is all about steam being a monopoly...

IMO Valve should be working on way to fight discrimination on steam forums/games.
For example when Rome 2 launched lady generals the steam forums all raged back at CA for a lot of misogynists reasons. Valve should punish those accounts. I'm not saying to permaban someone for a single comment but maybe some other way to embarass that person in a way that shows their attitude is not acceptable to this comunity. If they aren't willing to not be assholes then permaban those fuckers.

The bot situation has been out of control on TF2 for well over a year now. Valve basically completely gave up on the game after the Jungle update.

Yeah, my impression's been that Valve abandoned TF2 years ago and that's it's currently operating in Blizzard-style "maintenance".

Like Valve has a history for being really blase with hate speech but with the current state of TF2 it looks like they extra don't give a fuck.

Has anybody here heard of Noxiousnet on Garry's Mod/Gmod? They were around for like 10 years, and they were the most popular Zombie Survival server, which Noxiousnet created in the first place. They shut down and a new server called "Sunrust" took their place. They are a cesspool of racism, sexism, and various other isms. People on there use words like "faggot" "nigger" "retard" "jew" and so on. It isn't against the rules on their servers. The admins mostly approve of it. They're also Trump fans.

An update to Team Fortress 2 has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart Team Fortress 2. The major changes include:

• Restricted certain new accounts from using chat in official matchmaking modes
  • Work is ongoing to mitigate the use of new and free accounts for abusive purposes
• Added "Enable text chat" and "Enable voice chat" options to the top of the Advanced Options dialog to disable in-game text and voice chat
• Updated the Report Player dialog to include more details so players can make informed decisions about who they're reporting
• Fixed getting the "Incoming message..." quest HUD notification when you've already completed all available quests
• Fixed the OnDestroyed output not getting fired when an object is destroyed by the Red-Tape Recorder
• Updated The Telefragger Toque to fix swapped materials
• Updated The TF2VRH headset to include on/off styles
• Updated the PASS Time Federation medals to fix issues with them not drawing correctly
• Updated/Added some tournament medals
• Updated the localization files

Looks like they're finally making an effort to fix TF2's problems. I already uninstalled the game last week for the first time in 7 years. Got sick of cheaters and bots on almost every server. It's been such a regular occurrence for months now.
