If your goal is for Biden to give you Bernie's M4A plan, you're never getting that. He's not going to run on that. It's not even close to what he wants. So, that's just setting yourself up for disappointment. The most you'll get is M4AWWI.

Which, in my opinion, is the best version of Medicare for All. It's more workable. It gives our system a chance to catch up with millions of new folks being pushed onto government run plans. It lets us do the shit we need to do to make this work. I think if you ask 99% of people who are opposed to M4A, it's not because we don't think in an ideal world it's the better option...it's just not feasible the way Bernie lays it out.

Funny, that, isn't it? : nails :

This is so good. I think Biden understands how important it is to get Trump out of the paint and will move as leftward as he can in his policy proposals in order to get the leftist wing on board.

Between Biden's recent passion in attacking Trump and his leadership helping him to consolidate the party, I feel FUCKING GREAT about November.

This also gives me hope that he did good debate prep. he's taking away talking points from bernie before tonight even starts.

I know this isn't true for people here, but at some point I feel like some 'online progressives' want Biden to lose in November so they can say "SEE WE TOLD YOU HE WOULD LOSE, HAH BERNIE OR BUST WAS RIGHT, THATS WHAT YOU GET FOR NOMINATING A CENTRIST" instead of you know, getting good policies and possibly taking the Senate with Biden.

Biden campaign crushing it so far. That's a great start to getting that younger vote to the polls.

My favorite thing is now "Joe Biden is just stealing ideas!"

Do people actually want change? Or just to complain.

Absolutely. Move left to meet Bernie at least somewhat, though to be fair, it also might not end up mattering that much. I think the "Bernie Ueber Alles" wing of the party will just complain about Biden anyway and anyone even remotely persuadable wants Trump gone and will vote for Biden anyway.

I mean you're quoting a tweet with like a hundred likes and double digit RT. I'm not sure what you're looking for in those comments.

just let us get it over with, it'll get worse before it gets better.
The virus will be worse in April than in June.

I know, it's maddening when people talk up how Bernie and Warren need to push the party left, and then when establishment figures like Biden move left and start adopting their policies, suddenly you can't trust them for tacking left. Like what is the point of wanting more moderate Dems to move left if we're going to punish them for doing so?

I thought the adoption of their policies is the best case scenario for a potential Biden nomination
That's because it was never a good-faith suggestion.

Threatening to withhold support from Biden is an attempt to boost Bernie, not to actually change Biden's platform for when he officially secures the nomination (which he's already won). There is no way to satisfy them short of nominating Bernie, because that is the only thing they actually want.

It played out exactly the same in 2016. There is nothing new here.

Damn, when has stealing better plans been a negative in politics? He literally cites the creators in that very tweet. If this is what stealing plans is like then Joe should steal some more plans.

The actual question is will Biden actually have the follow through to enact progressive policies that he adopts when he is betrothed to corporate interests. I really doubt it but sure, the zeitgeist is Biden and is now our corporate media darling to beat Drumpf. I'll vote for him but we need progressives and an actual left in this country. Goddammit.

I was just thinking when I read that Biden tweet "There will be people who are actually mad about him doing this because now they can't complain about him not doing this" then thought, nah, this is too petty to point out, let's let it slide. Then the very next page there's that buffoon's tweets posted doing exactly that.

93 cases now in Illinois now
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is ordering all bars and restaurants across the state to be closed to dine-in customers in a further attempt to curb the coronavirus, effective end of business Monday, he announced on Sunday. The news comes as coronavirus cases in Illinois increased to 93 people in 13 counties, said Ngozi Ezike, director for the Illinois Department of Public Health.

This isn't true of every Bernie supporter (obviously), but that there's a "fuck Biden for adopting Bernie's plans" contingency only serves as more supporting evidence for my theory that some of the loudest, brashest Bernie-or-Bust assholes would have found SOMETHING to complain with even Bernie if he'd won the nomination.

A lot of it is simply contrarianism.

I genuinely believe that that part of the electorate is 8 people, isn't worth arguing about, spending time on them hampers unity, and that they are ugly, bitter people inside.

Is someone going to make a thread on Biden adopting the two policies? I think it is important that more people find out than those in the Primary OT and this thread.

I do believe there is also a part of people supporting Sanders because they really do see him as the only one that might improve their lives in any way. Like, if you're poor and have crippling medical debt due to a severe illness you might see him as a savior, regardless if he can actually get any of what he says done. I don't blame those people, I just blame the ones that see anything other than Sanders' plans as not worth even voting against Donald Trump for.

God I fucking hate this orange fuck so much

He's already demonstrated that he loved it when thousands of people died in Puerto Rico and he's demonstrating right now that he doesn't give a fuck about thousands more dead as long as his stock market is good

This is true, but then I could already hear the Never Bernie contingent also salivating over a GE loss for the socialist in the brief period of time that he was a frontrunner.

If that small period of time taught us anything, it's that moderates really aren't much different or different in character to people on the edges. They're just as likely to react negatively to being told that you MUST support the party's nominee or be responsible for every terrible thing Trump does, that they're just as capable of nearly fantasizing about a general election loss.
