We have been on the waiting list for an experimental treatment for my oldest son. We finally got approval to have it, but we had to travel internationally. They just called to let us know it's too risky, and we're back to the bottom of the list. Considering his immune system is compromised, it makes sense....but god damn it hurts.
Damn, I can't imagine that. Hope you guys get through it.

Thanks. Sorry to vent. My husbands at work so I just have to stew in misery until he gets home and can hug me. lol
Don't apologize. Sending virtual hugs do you and your family.

So I went to Walmart yesterday for some groceries and TP. The TP isle was completely barren. I sent the picture to my dad, who happens to be completely brainwashed by Fox News and a former Democrat. He was adamant that I sent him a fake picture. I had to explain that I took the picture myself..

Fox News is a hell of a drug. Everything is fake news if they aren't reporting it.

Its hard to see how exactly people were comparing Biden's and Hillary's chances. Just talking to people every day you could tell there was this insidious and gross hate for Hillary that was either always prevalent, or always waiting for some justification to exist (like when the Comey letter probably swung a decent amount of people). Biden has the Obama connections, he's male... I mean to Americans in general he's a comparatively super easy pill to swallow.

I'm sorry about the circumstances, but I am glad to hear there are people looking out for your son.

Inbox: North Dakota Democratic-NPL saying results may not be available until Wednesday. So don't be surprised if we don't know who won ND tomorrow night.

I wonder what Fox News will become under a Biden Presidency.

Well, for everyone who just replied to me, I guess my line of thinking is that type of map would be a major swing in the electorates that produced such results. It wouldn't be sustainable, but it would indicate a massively accelerated shift for future elections.

But it's also a +20 map and we aren't getting that so lol
Here's an extremely cynical take: Don't trust white suburban women.

Aaaaand at risk of just filling this thread with Trump tweets, more flailing:

Can he tariff oil? Because lol

I don't know about conspiracies, but the US is barely testing anyone.
All the reporting points to the US arrogantly waving off the WHO test kits to develop their own, then producing flawed kits.

So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!

Really having a normal one today

Here in Michigan the airwaves were blanketed by Bloomberg ads up until last week. Saw 1 Warren ad, no Biden ads, and no Bernie ads.

Now I'm seeing LOTS of Biden ads. Looks like his team is doing a good job.

My parents were repeating this Fox News shit on Saturday when we spoke about the Coronavirus. They went through the gamut of everything. It's overblown and not as bad as the flu. It'll be better in summer. Oh, and it might have been made in a lab by the Chinese government!

They just wouldn't accept anything else.

The worst people in American politics decided to pick a fight with the WHO in the middle of this outbreak and people were cheering for this, even though it's just the same old "UN GONNA PUT US IN FEMA CAMPS" garbage.

If every Senate election went the same way as the EC on that map, the Democrats would have a Senate majority of 59-41.

It'd be a very painful knockout, but enough for them to rally in 2022 in House/state races, I suppose. That Senate majority would be an almost insurmountable cushion though, there's only a handful of truly competitive seats in 2022 where Democrats are playing defense. New Hampshire, Nevada and Colorado for now, and Arizona and Georgia if they win the special elections this year.
You may also want to consider the direct effects of coronavirus, because we are also disadvantaged there. Of Democratic senators older than 70 years of age, 7 are currently in seats where a Republican would appoint their replacement: (Warren 70, Manchin 72, Shaheen and Markey 73, Cardin 76, Sanders 78, Leahy 79).

Whereas on the GOP side, only one senator over 70 holds a seat in a state with a democratic governor: (Roberts, 83).

It is morbid but not at all far-fetched to anticipate how this disadvantage might come into play, as well as with the Supreme Court.

Meh, we've got veto-proof majorities in all those senators' states except for Shaheen and Manchin.

Like, not to be glib, I just couldn't anticipate this being a problem.

edit: I said "filibuster" when I meant to say "veto" god how embarrassing

The worst part about this is that Bernie will get trashed, and still stick around for the debate and use it to try to beat on Biden than stay in to promote his ideas and dunk on Trump.

I am pretty sure they have shown Trump pictures of what systemic health care failure looks like, but I don't think he groks it at all. Once hospitals are overwhelmed people start dying of all kinds of things, not just coronavirus.

On the bright side, with the markets collapsing, nCoV-19 spreading and Biden's smashing victory on Tuesday nobody's gonna tune in.

“Breaking: Jurors in the trial of Josh Schulte, accused of giving CIA hacking tools to Wikileaks, fail to reach a verdict on those charges. Schulte guilty of false statements to investigators and contempt of court. Big blow to government's case. Story soon.”

Shane Harris on Twitter

“Here's our story. Jurors had told the judge that they were "extremely deadlocked" on most charges, including the core of the case--that Schulte took CIA hacking tools and gave them to Wikileaks. Jurors had been deliberating since last week. https://t.co/sRVePxnRdO”

The case took an unexpected turn in August, when Schulte was arrested after investigators found evidence of child pornography on his computer, including more than 10,000 photos and videos, prosecutors alleged. Schulte will be tried separately on those charges, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

Yup, had the same thing yesterday with mine. Some gaslighting bullshit.

It's funny how even though Hillary knocked out sanders on Super Tuesday polls stayed relatively divided in white states. Now the polls are like Bernie just get the duck out.

I don't know why "it was made in a lab by the Chinese" is supposed to offer any comfort. Whether or not it might kill you doesn't depend on where it comes from!

"The fundamentals in this economy are unbelievable." —HHS Secretary Azar to reporters just now at the White House. The Trump admin's top health officials took no questions, said nothing about the health issues around coronavirus and spoke only about the economy.

: Despite concerns that people in Washington D.C. were exposed to COVID-19 at the CPAC conference last week (a large GOP gathering), senior White House sources tell ABC News the POTUS and his closest advisers have NOT been tested for CORONAVIRUS as of now.

It's also about preparedness. We expect a relatively stable amount of flu cases each year, so we plan for it. If we suddenly had a big spike in flu, we wouldn't have the staff or resources to deal with that increase past a certain point. That's the problem really. We aren't prepared for this, as we are the seasonal flu each year.
