Maintaining financial stability for folks is stimulus.
Stimulus is what you do after a crisis to restart the economy. Since we're still in the crisis we should be providing focused benefits where people need them, not throwing money out of hot-air balloons on crowds.

Trump only cares about himself and making the economy look good because that's all he has. He thinks sending everyone a check will make this problem just go away because that's how he used to making his problems, like pregnant pornstars, go away. We need a lot more than that right now.

If Biden took advice from people on the internet people on the internet would react with "what the fuck we're just crazy people on the internet why would you take our advice you're blowing it"

Strong White Daddy all over cable news hammering away at Trump is exactly what you want Biden to be right now.

It's not just that Loeffler cashed out on stocks, but that she turned around and bought up more stocks in a company that would particularly benefit in a pandemic situation. The only way she could've been more on the nose about it was if she invested in a company that makes hospital beds or something.

If Biden took advice from people on the internet he would not be the Democratic nominee.

seriously though, what happened to the debate over cutting checks? It seems to be radio silence since the Senate GOP proposal

The means testing needs to go

Then numbers of testings and cases and deaths are going up (because testing is now happening on a more appropriate scale), which is starting to freak people out. Trump is promising equipment to everyone, and even said at today's presser that $1000 checks aren't going to be enough.

So the debate's been squashed, people are being forced home now, and the Republicans are being seen as getting ahead of the pandemic by dumping stocks. After the nation's weekend of stir-crazyness, virus updates, and financial woes, whatever's left to debate will start again on Monday I think.

Bernie more or less had his campaign run by Twitter shitposters and it didn't go very well.

You do need to get the pulse of social media to an extent, but you also want to be grounded in reality.

I agree it'd be nice to have Biden at least visible but I think you really can't counterprogram the president. It just doesn't look good.

You cannot have Biden constantly out there shit talking Trump all the time. There is one president at a time, and people will not tolerate the attacks constantly. Let Trump bury himself, and there are instances where Biden CAN respond to something, but it shouldn't be constant.

Feinstein:

Senator Dianne Feinstein on Twitter

“Under Senate rules I report my husband's financial transactions. I have no input into his decisions. My husband in January and February sold shares of a cancer therapy company. This company is unrelated to any work on the coronavirus and the sale was unrelated to the situation.”

Fuck it, the Democrats should be passing wishlist shit every single day with stuff that actually helps people and daring Republicans to not pass them, and they should make an enormous show of it.

Trump wants the American people to be deaf, blind, and shielded from the reality of the situation. He's desperately trying to paint a rosey picture and present the best case scenario for everything. That's why he exploded on Peter Alexander. He doesn't want people knowing just how catastrophic this is going to be.

Seems on the up and up to me. I'm satisfied by what she's said. :)

Sometimes it seems like you all forget that we're on the good team. When shit hits the fan the good guys focus on helping people and getting shit done. That includes getting out of the way of the current leadership and at least giving them the opportunity to do the right thing.

Would Republicans be this respectful if a Democratic president had to face a crisis like this? Of course not. They would be ripping him or her to shreds from day 0 for short term political gain, regardless of how appropriate the Democratic response actually is. Does that suck? Sure. Would we all be enraged? Absolutely.

But we're the good guys. So Biden is going to lay low, there won't be ads, and we'll let Trump attempt to handle it. If his response is as bad as we all think it is, this will all come back to haunt him in a big way. Once the immediacy of the crisis is over, it will be appropriate for our team to go on the offensive. And we certainly will.

It's really stunning how a vast majority of the population just accepts that the GOP is horrible and some are fine voting with it!

This is why the media falls on its face any time they do anything decent.

Good.

Where is that poll of Maine? My heart stopped when I saw the DFP handle.

Why did you tell me it was coming? I can't live like this.
apparently the DFP team has been spending their quarantine polling everything:

Someone needs to tell them we want comprehensive polls of every Senate race. The fact he didn't commit to a date probably means late next week for ME.

If it's like California's lockdown we can, guess we'll find out in 30 minutes

So tired of Trump saying he inherited an old broken system that wasnt built for this kind of pandemic. South Korea wasnt built to tackle one on this scale and they adapted fine. Hell, his administration dismantled the entire team that was in place to look out for these sorts of things. Reporters need to stop being so scared of upsetting him and drill this shit home. The majority of these people are asking such softball BS and its silly. You can tell hes starting to hate these daily briefings. Just 3 or 4 days ago we were talking about how much his tone had changed lol.

I wonder if they are scared that he will revoke their passes like he did with Acosta. Or just stop doing these Q&A sessions after the briefings.

I like how he attacked that one reporter for not naming Dianne Feinstein, after he made it a point to only name her.

Shelters in place allow for exactly that. It's mainly a mandate for closing all non-essential businesses and forcing companies that could WFH their employees but haven't yet to do so. You can still walk/run outside, exercise, go to grocery stores and pharmacies (or whatever essential biz is still open), etc. It doesn't mean everyone is forbidden from leaving their homes, nor is there any way to enforce that even if it were the case. There was a shelter in place in Boston after the marathon bombing and I still went out and ran and did grocery shopping, lol
