Bernie is only getting 7% of Hillary 2016 caucus goers. Buttibut, Biden and Warren basically all splitting it.

62% say most important is who can beat Trump

26 Biden
21 Butt
16 Warren
14 Bernie

"We should stress again that these results are preliminary and can possibly change; since entrance polls collect data in waves, early results can be tilted towards caucus-goers who showed up early — in previous years, these have been older voters."-from 538's live chat

To be fair, it was 40% for like two minutes and then adjusted down to 34%.

Also, 30% would be an increase in the oldest group vs 2016. Same with the youth at the moment.

Caucuses are such catnip for pundits. Lots of somewhat arcane rules to explain, repetitive counting of things, all stuff that ranks high on the Blitzer scale.

Looks like the total clusterfuck lots of folks predicted. Every campaign is gonna come away with something to crow about but will ultimately not change the overall state of the race.

Youngest of the young

Bernie 42
Buttibutt 20
Warren 15
Yang 9
Biden 3

So, Bernie is +20......but Buttibutt is doing better in raw numbers than Clinton was among this age group. This is a group Bernie won by 70 points in 2016.

No one should ever count on the youth vote. "But they'll come out for the revolution!" I would love to see that, but I have heard that song-and-dance too many times.

Sanders would turn 80 in the first year of his first term. Warren would leave office after two terms still 79. These two can't be grouped together in age.
What I mean is that when people say "we need new blood, not old people like biden, warren, and sanders" they're revealing they have no idea how those candidates are politically aligned. They put them all in the same "old" category even though they're very different.

No one seems to be mentioning Amy, yet anecdotally she seems to be stronger than expected. Maybe it's just partisan non response bias

Amy definitely over performing based on anecdotes.

Biden would have wrapped up this shit by now but both Amy and Pete are stealing from his old folks.

Non-Biden, well-off Boomers seem to love Amy. Source: The snowbird caucuses and my mom.

Boomers are assholes anyway so they don't care that she's an asshole to her staff.

You can't depend on the youth vote, time and time again. The real boomers are the ones that actually vote.

So there were three international "satellite" caucuses today. One in the republic of Georgia.
3 people attended.
NPR dedicated a segment to it where they made puns about the caucus caucus.
the Iowans "celebrated" afterward by eating pizza with ranch dressing.

everything about this is depressing.

Being old isn't a poltiical alignment holy fuck

the way these morons continuously lump biden in with warren/sanders

What I mean is that when people say "we need new blood, not old people like biden, warren, and sanders" they're revealing they have no idea how those candidates are politically aligned. They put them all in the same "old" category even though they're very different.

But 'old' is an identity. And some of us tell others that they ignore identity politics to their peril. Black voters assume black politicians share their values. Old voters assume old politicians share their values. No Republican in actual power is an Evangelical, but Evangelicals see themselves in them, regardless of votes or actual policy.

There is a satellite caucus for Iowa in Georgia, for real.
There must be some ultra-wealthy DNC donor who lives there originally from Iowa. I can't think of any other conceivable reason.

Ya, the problem is about 40% do not want to. In a democratic primary, that's pretty bad.

Interestingly, Bernie is only winning the "Wants medicare for all" crowd by 11 points, while only getting 5% of the vote among the 36% who do not want it.
