Has Kamala had any moments during Q&A? She usually has at least one question that cuts through the bullshit in hearings.

Slotkin raised over $1 million in Q4 alone. I think she'll be a strong statewide candidate in a few years.

Joe should fly to Germany and ask Merkel for Trumps finances from Deusche Bank

Warren seems to be the only Democrat who fundamentally understands the current political system and how absurd it is. How can it be that she was the only senator asking that question? The great liberal savior Bernard probably was probably still busy being explained to the rules of the senate and the legislative branch in general, as he thought he would never actually contribute to the branch in a positive way.

They're going to approve witness testimony, but beyond Murkowski, I doubt that any of the moderate darlings will vote to approve Bolton, Vindman, Sondland, Williams, etc..

Bolton, Mulvaney, Pompeo, Giuliani, Parnas, Fruman, and Trump himself are the only relevant witnesses left. A vote for witnesses without any of those in mind (and Bolton is obviously the most realistic get) is pointless.

Interesting how anonymous he's been throughout impeachment proceedings. There's more news of him crowing about winning Iowa.

I mean the Senate was designed to be a bunch of bullshit though.

I'm actually really impressed by Warren though. We've had academics become senators before who weren't this seemingly well read on how fucked our situation is.

This focus on witnesses and documentation feels like a trap. They don't call witnesses or allow further evidence so now they have an excuse to acquit because without witnesses and documentation there isn't enough there.

Really wish democrats would have framed it better, like "there's ample evidence to remove without further witnesses and documentation, but adding those would remove any doubt from those still on the fence." Instead it feels like desperation to get these things added because there isn't enough there, which was probably the republicans gameplan.

So lets all vote for a candidate who completely disregards how his ambitious policies could be enacted because he thinks the institution that would have to do so are bad! A person who understands how the same institutions could be worked (around) to achieve almost the same policy goals must not be trusted though, because acquiring such knowledge makes her a insider by definition!

Has there been a "who are you voting for in the primary" poll here recently? Would be curious to see the results.

I think Warren pointing out how the Senate sucks is good though.

I just don't think the suckiness with the Senate is some sort of anomaly; it's endemic to its design.

If you would have followed her academic career and writings would not be additionally surprised though, so maybe follow politics a bit more closely next time?
I mean it's the same as people who wonder how could anyone known that the reality tv show clown candidate would govern in such a way, it would have been quite a hassle to actually study the candidates before forming opinions on them...

Sekulow and Cipollone have been a bit weak and spread out tonight. Without Philbin they wouldn't have lasted this long. Philbin is probably gonna be able to hit the lecture circuit for the rest of his life, if he isn't doing it already. Both Starr and Dershowitz flew too close to the sun, as predicted, but will continue to find audiences somewhere somehow.

In disowning Bolton now, Fox News is preparing for the inevitable release of info, whether that is next week or in March or later after a court fight. Bolton, for his part, could come in right now and do this, but would rather watch things implode first for some reason. That the defense is still bringing up Hillary and butObama shows they don't have enough, as does the feints of being personally insulted by Schiff.

how easy would it be to goad trump into showing up as a witness by claiming he's afraid to take the stand?

Well then following that logic, voting for Bernie equals an enthusiastic vote for the status quo. Look I don't judge political views, but I always like that people who purportedly support democratic socialism also love the candidate so much in favor in keeping all institutions just like they have always been. Maybe because some of his supporters actually like the way politics as they have been? Of course though not the policies themselves, but rather the skin color and gender of the 100 people deciding policy in the end in the past...

It was framed fine, and the case was proven. Trump even confessed on television. The defense only offered, "So what if he did it? Who cares? We love Kings."

The biggest thing you could do to the US senate in the next term would be making DC a state and letting Puerto Rico vote on statehood though.

Mr Mcdoogle was discounting our boy Biden.

Posted mid December. I made notice at the time that the last 40 or so votes all went to Sanders, so there might have been some monkey business at the tail end. Before they all went to Sanders, it was very much split between Warren and Sanders with Warren maybe having a few more votes.

Not sure why this is such an aggressive post for a tweet reaction that literally everyone in the thread was reacting to. Maybe calm down? I'm complimenting Warren for punching far above literally the entirety of the US Congress.

What's the earliest we get our dreams crushed, based on the schedule?
I think 11 or 12 EST is when they wrap up the questions.

Acquittal by the weekend (likely tomorrow) at the current pace. Though obviously there could be surprises (it will still be acquittal, just at some undefined future time).

Thanks for the link, what do you mean by monkey business? Would be interesting to do an in thread poll.

It just seemed odd that the vote was going near equal split between Warren and Sanders until the tail end, and then went entirely for Sanders with like 40 or so votes in a row just for him. Didn't know if people or someone was just spamming the poll at that point, but it had the usual protections in place (one vote per IP, VPNs can't vote, etc).

Can we do a thread poll? That way the votes are coming in more reliably.
