Just heard my first Bloomberg ad on radio. *Pukes*

He's just going to continue to gain absurd mindshare.

Damage control. This doesn't prove anything. They'll eventually pay some Nigerian dude to say the account was his.

I don't get the idea that Bernie needs a moderate to balance the ticket. I don't think anyone who is scared of him being a socialist will be swayed by the VP pick! I get the argument of wanting a younger woman of color, but balancing the ticket ideologically makes no sense to me?

And those executive orders will be invalidated by a conservative SCOTUS if we don't win the Senate, making their presidencies even more functionally identical.

At that point we'd have to ignore the court. That's the escalation we're headed to, because we can't keep following the rules and losing time and again, even for all the pandora's-box fretting that that invokes.

Just like how the next time there's a D president and an R house, that D president's getting impeached. Just because they'll do it in the future doesn't mean we shouldn't move first.

“It would be nice if more than one Democratic presidential candidate would say that this is not ok. https://t.co/EfixXJ84U2”

honestly, I don't think people care about investigating Trump anymore in the House. The only thing that matters in a presidential election year is what the presidential candidate's doing and saying. They can continue to pass bills and ram home in local districts that McConnnell and Susan Collins refuse to take up bills.

However, if Jeffries and co. aren't interested in investigating Trump after the election that's a problem.

We do however have Kavenaugh dead to rights lying under oath and there is a legal arguement being formulated for the ability to remove Supreme Court justices without Senate impeachment under those kinds of circumstance.

But could and would the Supreme Court block every single executive order along partisan lines? Kavenaugh, assuming no blow back or attempt to remove him occurred, would no longer be indebted to the current sitting POTUS.

There would still need to be a legal justification presented even if it was partisan hackery, I think it's doubtful that they'd be able to block all of them.

But if they did, let's say they blocked even the executive actions to undo Trumps executive ordered, somehow... I still think we'd be better served with a left wing advocate, organize, in office than 'return to normalcy' Biden.

Obamatook this reasonable middle of the road position and Republicans still blocked him! Hardly worked out as a convincing play, you'd better stand to motivate people by taking stands for broadly popular 'radical' positions and have the Republicans block them.

If we're defaulting to 'nothing can get done even with executive orders' the candidate showing the most signs of strength with independents and in red states (down ticket etc) is Samders anyway.

I'd still say that Sanders, on the basis of foreign policy alone, is by far the no brainer pick even in the most cynical projection of the domestic landscape.

Until PACs start running counterprogramming against Bloomberg, voters will continue to see only the highly sanitized version of Bloomberg in his commercials, not the "Obamacare is bad, death panels are good, and minorities cause everything bad" guy. Unfortunately even Bernie has run 1/10 the amount of advertising as Bloombito because money has now corrupted this process absolutely.

Where are the 'facts' in the article ??
I guess the same place where the facts are that this is anyhow related to the Buttibutt campaign.
/shrugs

Oh wait, I found it:
www.businessinsider.com

A senior adviser for Pete Buttigieg was accused of running a fake Nigerian supporter account, but the man who created it says it's a big misunderstanding

Twitter users noted that the account tweeted "Team Pete. Hey. It's Lis," in January, raising suspicion that the tweet could have been an accident.

Insider confirmed the existence and identity of the man behind the accounts through requesting and receiving a photograph of the man holding a sign with the date and phrase "I am not Lis Smith" written on it.

Also Bloombito is 78, I'm sure he doesn't count though and would want all the treatment in the world.

RE: That Bloomberg video is super ugly because it's not hard to extrapolate that position to really dystopian points.

But if you are 95 and have tough to cure cancer, maybe you care more about dying with dignity on your own terms than you do playing to a narrow out that will leave you broken even if you beat it. I mean, that would be my calculus: talk to me about in-home hospice care and help getting any remaining affairs in order.

But yeah, not a good look to position the government about saying when a person should choose to live and when they shouldn't. There's a zero-sum nihilism there that dances around the fact that the reason you are removing the choice from the patient is because of the expense of health care delivery.

That's actually some good shade, and I'm not even mad at it.

Yep I am the biggest Amy fan but this is 100% fair criticism! I also think that is speaks volumes to how much the US government actually sees the Mexican government as a partner, because the reason you forget names of leaders is when they aren't actually important.

edit: Pete would legit do better for the voters he needs to win over by going after Bernie, but it's just a way too easy of a shot to get in and he's gotta be pissed that she took away what would have been a potentially decisive win in NH from him.

This would be the case for any Dem candidate. And you can get around this by packing the courts, which Sanders said he isnt in favor of but if theyre going to stonewall him he could very well change his mind and get around this.

As I said where are the 'facts?' You are going to use a statement from some anonymous identity? If that's the case sounds like you would believe some sort of ... conspiracy ... theory ... ? But go on with that snark

100% sure the account is a Lis Smith sockpuppet. The post times are incredibly damning. If they'd found some random American who was willing to claim it was their sockpuppet that would be believable, but there's no way this is someone who was actually in Nigeria as claimed.

"Hey Bernie. We've been trying to stop you for five years. We've repeatedly shat on you, your ideas, and your supporters. We've invested in superPACs to make negative ads against you. Now that you have more delegates than any other candidates. we want you to give in to who we say your VP should be."

He's about to get klobbered hard on the debate stage.

Only opportunistically. I expect that if Amy comes to the debate with the Swingline loaded, it's going to be thrown at Bernie. Attacks on Bernie play very well with the older voters, and do so in a way that aren't mean to Pete or Biden voters that she'll need if she's able to somehow pull a miracle and get out ahead of them.

I mean, if he wants full autonomy over his pick, he can go win over more primary voters. Which if he gets ahead, he probably will do and it's no big deal.

But I would feel deeply, deeply troubled by a candidate that repeatedly failed to get more than a third of the primary vote and barely got across a plurality finish line. If that's a case, he's gotta cut a deal (and he will).

Media has LITERALLY confirmed the man's identity! They also confirmed he had ownership of the accounts in question.

Insider confirmed the existence and identity of the man behind the accounts through requesting and receiving a photograph of the man holding a sign with the date and phrase "I am not Lis Smith" written on it. He also verified his ownership of the account through email screenshots.

Some of y'all are being absolutely absurd with this shit. There is ZERO evidence to back up the random rose twitter person who decided this was somehow directly tied to the Buttibut campaign. My husband, who as I said is a Pete supporter, literally has that email in his inbox right now with the words "It's Lis. And guess what? It's Phase 4." They've been doing the phase thing for months.

But here's the thing. I don't particularly like Pete. I like him better than Bloomberg but that's not saying much. There are absolutely a million things you can justifiably go after Pete for. Blindly trusting someone with a rose twitter handle because it fits a narrative you want to push is absolutely ridiculous. Go after Pete's shitty record on minority rights.Go after Pete's lack of experience. Go after whatever you want if it's factual. Making shit up doesn't help!

She's ridiculous. She was caught retweeting something very profane and incendiary about Sanders/supporters. She's also been rabid in maligning Sanders/supporters— and leveraged her show to spew propaganda. I'm not sure where she has the authority to moralize on civility. it's important to understand that these media crybabies really do just think criticizing them is harassment

I'm at a loss for words here. This man should be nowhere near the White House.

I've voiced my concerns about Bernie in a general election, but the guy cares about everybody and I'll fight hard for him if he is nominated. Bloomberg is a mess.

What would Lis Smith gain from a Nigerian sock puppet account? Nothing. Even Russian bots pretend to be from the US. This entire situation is dumb, that Twitter user is dumb, Twitter is dumb, and everyone here is now dumber for having listened to it.

Trump is easy to understand because he is a narcissistic and greedy asshole. Everything generally revolves around that even his cruelty and anti-immigration rhetoric.

Bloomberg I don't even understand... I actually think that he lives in his own billionaire bubble where he thinks he can say something in public and people will nod their heads because they work for him and thus have to suck up to him. He treats others as sub human.

I don't know how you can say in public that people over a certain age group don't deserve healthcare because it might bankrupt the system. Like .... what?

It's so dumb! If you're going to make a fake person to pretend Pete has more supporters than he does (I assume is the rationale?) why would you make them ineligible to vote for him? What is the rationale?

Also, the guy who "broke" this story has now changed his Twitter handle to "Hillary Clinton owned slaves" so....man, I don't even know anymore.

I'd say it is the business class bubble, the same folks who think Trump is a lock to win re-election because they only rate things based on last quarter's economic performance. There is an entire intellectual sphere of folks who are "serious" and have to make the tough calls and tell people things they don't want to hear, the kind of folks who built the crippling austerity programs of the European Union and the IMF and billed them as both necessary and unavoidable.
