This is pretty astounding. You also can't watch this because the U.S. Senate controls the cameras and have made sure they aren't watching the senators.https://twitter.com/mmcauliff/status/1220078694481395713?s=20 …

Just counted 21 empty seats on the GOP side of the Senate, 2 on the Dem side, a couple hours into Schiff's presentation. Some are just stretching their legs, but most are not in the chamber. Some of them have been out of there for a while.

I'll do it for you!

Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders has signed a loyalty pledge, promising to run and govern as a Democrat if he wins the presidency in 2020, a new requirement for candidates that largely grew out of his own 2016 campaign.

"Oh God, in any other country, Joe Biden and I would not be in the same party, but in America, we are," she said.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took aim at Joe Biden in a Wednesday tweet, criticizing the former vice president for his support of the Iraq War, his record of trying to freeze funding to Social Security and saying he'd be "open to a Republican running mate."
Amen, been real disappointed in the direction she's gone, but maybe I just got too drawn into the hype before at it was always this way.

I mean, if there was a Republican that was pro universal healthcare, believed in climate change as a threat, wanted electoral reform, and was socially liberal, wouldn't that make a good VP? That's kinda the point of that statement. The "good" in this case being nonexistent.

By this argument there is no reason to complain that AOC said Biden was open to a Republican running mate, since it is, in this argument, a perfectly reasonable statement that any candidate should be proud to make. So why are people complaining that she pointed out the inarguably true fact that Biden said it?

Schiff really does have Republicans running in circles on soundbites. Its kinda fascinating to watch even if in the end the result is locked.

But every time he speaks, vulnerable GOP Senators must be crying into their sleeves.

Republican messaging right now is so, so bad.

It's hair splitting against someone that is incredibly easy to legitimately attack.

This magical figure doesn't exist so what's the point of making the statement at all? Jesus. lol.

Even though he obviously isn't going to do it if Biden wants to get the both sides cred of entertaining the idea of selecting a Republican VP it's fair game for others in a primary to drag him for it

Schiff chipping away what little soul these GOP Senators have left has been glorious to watch.

Going to be completely tuned out during the Trump lawyer days though. I would be shocked if they can even have enough material for more than a day.

They'll be pulling out 2016 election maps, showing a doctored picture of the inauguration crowd size, etc.

Yeah, this is the thing that seems crazy to have changed with the debate being so low-watched.

Also, Buttigieg+Bloomberg+Klob is basically +20 Biden points in waiting.
You keep pushing this narrative that Biden is gonna sweep the second choice of those candidates but we've seen over and over again ideological lanes aren't real in this primary.

SCENE: Schumer waits for Cornyn to finish up remarks on how he heard "nothing new" from Adam Schiff.

Cornyn said they should present evidence from witnesses with personal knowledge & Schumer quips "hear, hear!"

BUT Cornyn says should have been done in the House, NOT the Senate
@StevenTDennis
Schumer then called Schiff's speech one of the 5 or 6 best he's heard since coming to Congress nearly 40 years ago.

One of the Iowa survey also polled up second-choice preferences as a collective.

Biden was leading those. Sanders had just 6%.

Thanks!

Not sure why the DNC felt the need to do this, but Bernie was happy to sign it, so it seems like everything is fine here. No problem at all!

"Oh God, in any other country, Joe Biden and I would not be in the same party, but in America, we are," she said.

Clearly true, since AOC is a socialist and Joe Biden is not, and in most countries socialists have their own party or parties.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took aim at Joe Biden in a Wednesday tweet, criticizing the former vice president for his support of the Iraq War, his record of trying to freeze funding to Social Security and saying he'd be "open to a Republican running mate."

Indisputably true, since he did say that. Again, I don't understand the argument that people should not criticize Biden for saying a thing everybody agrees he said. Biden chose to pander to more moderate Dems and independents by saying that. The cost is criticism from leftists. I would certainly not say such a thing if I were running for office!

I'm surprised at the disgruntlement about Ocasio-Cortez's remarks. I thought they were just fine.

People know that "yeah but he said it" isn't going to work every time. Yes the Internet exists, but people use it to distort as well, and even seeming like you're ignoring context will open yourself up to criticism as much as a direct quote will.

And yes, this instance is one of the mildest points of contention between campaigns, so it could be much worse.
