It's taken him a while, but it looks like Bernie is finally coming around to Socialism.

Still not all the way there, but it gives me hope he'll move on from his current half-way-house positioning.

Should be community owned through a taxed buy in, with additional options available for local investors. The people who have a vested interest in making sure that shit works for them.

You know what, I wasn't going to post here again, but before I leave (and yes, I will be requesting a permanent self-ban) people should know why I'm actually leaving.

Anyone who knows me knows that I have absolutely no problem with long, extended arguments, but I do not tolerate ad hominems, and I could already see that this thread was headed down that path again after comments like yours. I've been through that too many times with poli-era, and just in general, interactions here have just not been very pleasant. This is more like the straw that broke the camel's back.

As for your argument about Sanders. It's hogwash. He literally brought up exactly what you talked about, but you couldn't be arsed to look at the full exchange to see that, very much in the same way that I didn't realize how out of context Kamala's quote was, ironically.

Yes, Sanders is flaky on race issues sometimes, but there are other times where he has the best responses on race issues, but that never gets acknowledged here. In fact, I don't think I've seen anyone here acknowledge just how far he's leading the pack on his criminal justice platform compared to everyone else in the field, but that's not surprising.

Anyway, I wish you all well. I really mean that, but I hope that maybe one day this community can realize the kind of toxic, unwelcoming atmosphere it has fostered, because I am personally tired of it.

Cheers. It's been fun.
I'm sad to see you go man. I usually enjoy your posts even though I often find I disagree with your points, especially since you come to the defense of Bernie a lot. Nonetheless, I hate to see you being chased away by bullying, I wouldn't let them have it.

Biden's Super PAC is probably more salient than the Iraq vote as something to hit him on now.

It also doubles in showing that he's a pretty weak candidate.

Trump claimed he heard al bagdahdi whimpering and crying for his life? WTF, true or not why would you talk about this?

Obviously not the case if he used a suicide vest. His statement is just a sick power fantasy and in his twisted way, a means of dominance. Paper thin as usual.

I'll say it until my internet is cancelled. Some of these posters would have never made it through the '08 Primary.

I agree that things can get very toxic very quickly, im sad to see you go.

I would recommend you to be a bit more open on criticisms of the candidates you support, Im sure that would make arguments easier to handle for you. Not saying that you necessarily bad about that, but improvement is always welcome.

Take care.

Nobody ever catches a ban when discussing Star Trek.

So many people are not prepared for what's to come.

When it gets narrowed down to the top two (I'd say top three, but is anybody really on Team Biden anymore?) I think I'll just take a little break from PoliEra. Not because of any of the regulars, mind you, I just think there's going to be an influx of insufferable rage and bad actors. My puns and shit posts will just get lost in a sea of bleh.

I should probably just hang out on the Discord again, if someone wants to throw me the link that'd be much appreciated.

I mean it was a defining issue in '08 against Shillary. But that was a lifetime ago.

I don't think it really was in the end. Obama's winning coalition (in the primary, I mean) doesn't seem held together by anti-war sentiment.

Dems who voted for Iraq have long had defenses that seem to mostly ward off such attacks. Domestic social issues seem to me to be the best stick to wield in the primary. And the simplest attack of (paraphrasing) "you're losing, nerd." People love a winner.

Sanders has the money, he has the passion, and he has the message. I think it's going to work.

Its possible and stranger things have happened. Im happy with him or Warren taking it, but i also have personal worries with the both of them. I think that Bernie would have an easier time beating Trump but I also think that his age is an issue to be concerned about.

Sanders strategy is to appeal to people who wouldn't normally vote in a Democratic Primary. Hopefully he can get young people to caucus in Iowa and keep the momentum going.

Any "movement" is within statistical noise and is probably more the bad news cycle getting less coverage since he, you know, hasn't had a heart attack in a while. Plus, the race is stagnant because nothing is happening.

This literally never works. See 2016. The better strategy is to win over the people who actually vote in a Democratic primary--women of color, actual Democrats, and olds. All groups he doesn't even bother trying to appeal to, or does so incredibly poorly.

I don't know anything about Star Trek except Wil Weaton was pretty cool for a bit like 6 years ago and now he's vanished again

Feels kinda like Warren and Sanders are going to cannibalize each other all the way up to voting because none of them will drop out.

They're second and third. Or possibly first and third. And the other guy's campaign is giving off smoke. I don't think any pair of candidates in the same situation would view it as the time to drop out. Warren is obviously in a way stronger position than Bernie right now but neither is dead in the water.

Yeah he can't like in 2016 rely just on whites and young folks or he's finished

I'd say polling in the same narrow range since April is pretty dead in the water. Then there are multiple crosstabs that show that only like, IIRC, 39% would even consider voting for Bernie in the primary and something like 55% for Warren and 49% for Biden and it's a pretty clear indicator that he's not gonna be having a break-out. Warren has had the advantage of being the second choice of the also-rans that have been dropping out and low name recognition, something Bernie does not have.

But, yeah, being in third place is a good enough reason to justify continuing on, however there's Biden in the mix and his path to victory at this point likely remains with Bernie staying in and not endorsing Warren and keeping the same share of the vote he's had for the majority of this race.

Also, to be clear, Biden's campaign hasn't really been smoking. He's polling around the same place he always has, Warren has just been gaining on him because of drop-out votes mostly going to her.

I mean, let's be real, if Bernie loses Iowa by 19 bajillion points, his camp will blame literally everyone else. There's a track record.

Katie Hill is my representative. Really disappointed in this news, and her behavior. She seemed like she had good momentum and a promising future.
