wasn't he defending Turkey's war on the Kurds?
Pete what is you doing
Ugh. I don't want to be one of those "Warren and Sanders are the only good ones" guys but it's been very difficult lately not to be. At least Sanders carries a huge asterisk with him in my book.
I think Hillary running would be a massively bad ideaThis is where I'm at as well and it's weird because I was a Hillary supporter in 2016.
I suspect this is even just a lazy oversight too. I can't imagine there's a huge Turkish lobby in Mississippi :P
It's true, but the light is always open for when people want to come around to it."Warren and Bernie are the only good ones" has been a consistently accurate take since january 2019
hydro flask?

Hahaha* holy shit what is Pete doing.
What's wrong with using soap on your face?
I mean, the swastika is also a Hindu symbol but I wouldn't necesarily give someone the benefit of the doubt for having that tat either.
Pete already told the world who he was with his Black Cop wiretap scandal.I was a big Pete supporter and donor early on, and even though I switched my support to Warren months ago, I still viewed Pete in a good light and have been rolling my eyes for months at all the bitch eating crackers twitter bullshit that gets posted here about him almost every fucking day.
But after his no more mister nice guy performance at the last debate, and his *hard* fucking turn toward the center these past couple of weeks, it's clear he can't be trusted, doesn't truly stand for anything, is 100% in bed with the big donors, and a huge fucking disappointment. I can't think of another candidate I've seen change so compeletely so quickly.
Hahaha* holy shit what is Pete doing.
*Nervous, horrified laughter, not amused laughter.
We really are fucked in the long term if we don't get Sanders or Warren, aren't we?
It dries your skin.

Again I must ask the 'only Warren and maybe Sanders will do' crowd: what's wrong with Cory Booker? Not rhetorical, really want to know.
BREAKING: A federal judge held Education Secretary Betsy DeVos in contempt of court for disobeying an order to stop collecting the student loans of borrowers who attended a for-profit college. The judge ordered DeVos and the Education Department to pay $100,000 in sanctions.
there's some stuff about being too cozy with drug companies, but probably mostly he just isn't polling like a serious contender.Again I must ask the 'only Warren and maybe Sanders will do' crowd: what's wrong with Cory Booker? Not rhetorical, really want to know.

Booker (and Beto, and probably even Castro for that matter... hell, even Harris with a bit more experience) would be perfectly acceptable nominee material in most cycles. Rules have changed, though, between the huge field, the notion of Trump shattering previous norms, and raw charisma level mattering a ton more than it used to in the information age.Again I must ask the 'only Warren and maybe Sanders will do' crowd: what's wrong with Cory Booker? He called Obama attacking Mitt Romney for his financial industry ties "disgusting", smack dab in the heat of the electionAgain I must ask the 'only Warren and maybe Sanders will do' crowd: what's wrong with Cory Booker? Not rhetorical, really want to know.
Pete never had the experience to be president and I don't know why anyone seriously paid him any attention. Guy needs like 20 more years experience.
He's nowhere near the pantomime villain some of you are painting his as, however.
Yet people keep rejecting my Evers/Shalala ticket.raw charisma level mattering a ton more than it used to in the information age.
The thing I don't get is I fully believe he could've done that without sacrificing anything he's claimed to have stood for in the past, especially with proper media positioning. But he really is showing himself to be untrustworthy, really, and I have to question if he'll actually win anyone over with this, especially with people in this thread abandoning his camp....Butti is doing everything in his power to become relevant and influential on a national scale, principles be damned.
As someone in the 'only Sanders and maybe Warren will do' crowd: I feel like he's shown his ass a number of times in regards to upholding the current capitalist structures- particularly in regards to healthcare - instead of either reforming them or tearing them down. See his criticism of Obama going after Romney, for instance. This is problematic given the sheer influence lobbyists hold over politics and could, potentially, over him. Based on his stated policies thus far and how, unlike Pete, he hasn't backtracked iirc, I will say I probably prefer him or Castro to any of the other candidates besides Sanders and Warren but it's a very distant third between the two of them.Again I must ask the 'only Warren and maybe Sanders will do' crowd: what's wrong with Cory Booker? Not rhetorical, really want to know.
I could very easily see Warren picking him as VP if he drops out sooner than later, to be honest. I'm unsure about Sanders, I have a feeling he'd go with someone more left than Beto.
This. He's not a "pantomime villain", but time isn't going to fix him. He is who is he is, and especially after this, I just don't like him as a representative for the needs of the American people, and hope I'm not going to have to vote for him come November 2020.i dislike the "he needs more experience" line
Hes trash. We already know that hes a puppet of his donors, do we think that being around a decade in politics will somehow make him less corrupt?
...but doesn't Pete's heel turn sort of prove all the bitch eating crackers people right?
I mean, I KNOW I saw his ass for what he was and openly said so months ago. Once again for the people in the back: black people are this country's canary in the coal mine. Shit stopped smelling right with Pete the second the black folk in his own damn city started reading his ass for filth.
Oh man, you were the first Booty stan here too.My thoughts 100%.
I never donated to Pete, but I was an early supporter/admirer. This forum tends to spit at whoever isn't the current Progressive-Darling, but I didn't have much animosity for Booty even when I shifted to Team Kamala/Beto.
But like you, watching that last debate was like getting a bucket of ice cold water thrown in my face. He came off really petty and unlikable and it made me open my eyes to the hard turn he's made to the center. I'd argue, he's verging on almost going center-right. Did he really name Justice Kennedy as judges he wants??? Also his plan to reform the Supreme Court was one of the major things that really got me excited about him because I thought it was a great idea and good discussion to have, so it's really disappointing that he's essentially disavowing the plan.
All candidates modulate their positions to a degree (if they care about winning), but Booty has gone from a young forward-leaning progressive to a Joe Manchin blue-dog in a span of 6 months. As you said, it's clear he doesn't really stand for anything and can be easily swayed by his high-dollar donor class. It's a shame because he really is a great communicator and he could be a great messenger for progressive issues, but if he can turn on a dime like this then you just never know where his interests will be 6 months from now and could use his great communication skills to trash progressive issues (this is already happening).
I'm officially turning in my Booty card.
no socialist is running in this race...
WASHINGTON — For more than two years, President Trump has repeatedly attacked the Russia investigation, portraying it as a hoax and illegal even months after the special counsel closed it. Now, Mr. Trump's own Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into how it all began.
Justice Department officials have shifted an administrative review of the Russia investigation closely overseen by Attorney General William P. Barr to a criminal inquiry, according to two people familiar with the matter. The move gives the prosecutor running it, John H. Durham, the power to subpoena for witness testimony and documents, to impanel a grand jury and to file criminal charges.
The opening of a criminal investigation is likely to raise alarms that Mr. Trump is using the Justice Department to go after his perceived enemies. Mr. Trump fired James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director under whose watch agents opened the Russia inquiry, and has long assailed other top former law enforcement and intelligence officials as partisans who sought to block his election.
