So basically a giant pile of flaming shit lands on Maguire's desk. He doesn't want to give it to congress. He goes to the whitehouse hoping they'll give him an out. They don't. He goes to the Justice Department hoping they give him an out. They do, but it isn't legal. But it's *their* determination he can point to to make it not his fault.

Everyone tries to keep it hidden. They fail. Schiff gets wind of a whistleblower complaint that should have already been in his hands, and this whole thing begins.
This seems to be the constant through line in this Trump Saga.

Our systems haven't failed us. The cowardice of the people tasked with upholding them failed us.

Maguire, Comey, even Mueller to an extent.

Hard not too. It's so blatant and the mainstream media hasn't even focused on the fact there are clear signs the whole thing might have been concocted by Trump and Rudy, and that there are likely other files hidden on the server to protect Trump's reputation.
I think whatever else is hidden on the server is more than just protecting his reputation, it's probably similarly illegal.

Mattis. Mad Dog refuses to speak candidly even after leaving the administration.

Edit: But as years of polarization have shown us, a system is only as good as the people that work within it.

...is this the same guy who (allegedly) threatened to resign if he weren't allowed to testify in front of Congress?
Yes

Sooooo Forma won by 11 points but they're still endorsing Bernard as well? Were they just trying to placate the bros?

Indeed a tough spot, but he did choose to sideline the whistleblower law with loopholes to effectively bring the matter to the attention of the parties directly involved ahead of anyone else. It is indeed a "unique and unprecedented" situation where the whistleblower law wasn't quite codified for the consideration that the highest operatives in gov't are at fault, and yet he agreed the complaint was verifiably urgent and problematic and his rational judgement possibly just got clouded in procedure.

Not the best thinking from the Director of National 'Intelligence'. Proper mayhaps, but the content and concern of the memo was no longer of primary worry in that timeline.

This guy is pathetic.

It's almost worse than a Lewandowski type. At least that sycophant knows what he is.

Maguire, as Schiff just put it, left the whistleblower twisting in the wind for weeks. Maguire knew what he needed to do, and didn't do it, NOT because he wanted to carry water for the WH (fair), but because he just didn't want to be involved. He didn't want to be That Guy.

Well fine, but spare us all the honorable talk.

The gap between the frontrunners was so close that the union's executive board decided on Wednesday, after a review of the vote outcome, that the most appropriate reflection of the will of the membership was to offer grassroots support to both the Warren and Sanders campaigns.

"This is not your typical union endorsement. We didn't tell our members how to vote, they told us," said NUHW President Sal Rosselli. "We trust our members and their judgments and the outcome of this vote reflects the collective will of members from San Diego to the Oregon border. Our members clearly like both Senators Warren and Sanders. And, after reviewing the vote totals, our executive board felt that an endorsement of both candidates was most fair due to the closeness of the vote."

NUHW Members began voting on Sunday, Sept 22 and balloting ended on Wednesday, Sept 25. Members were able to vote for up to three candidates, but could not vote for the same candidate more than once. Members who voted for more than one candidate did not rank their preference.
I mean I don't really know whether a gap of 11 between Warren and Sanders is close, but then a gap of 16 from Sanders and Harris isn't.

But also, ultimately it's a whatever.

Methinks Trump may have told Putin about this (and it'll be recorded on a call, no less).

Kyle Griffin @kylegriffin1

Quigley: "To your knowledge, does [Giuliani] have security clearance?"
Maguire: "I don't know."

Q: What's your understanding Giuliani's role?
Maguire: "My only knowledge of what Mr. Giuliani does ... I get from TV & news media. I am not aware of what he does for the President."

Rep. Swalwell: "The first people that you go to after you read that allegation are the W.H. lawyers who are telling the W.H. officials who see this transcript and move it into a secret compartmentalized system... Is that yes or no?"

Acting DNI Maguire: "Yes."

So turns out my actual rep (Ken Buck) and the rep for the rest of the county I live in (Joe Neguse) are both on Judiciary.

Should be quite the contrast.

If Trump talked and committed impeachable acts on the phone with UKRAINE, just imagine the juicy shit he gave to Putin over the phone and in private.

Trump is literally an idiot who likely gave up US secrets to curry favor with fascists.

Schiff: "You're not suggesting, are you, that the president is somehow immune from the laws that preclude a U.S. person from seeking foreign help in a U.S. election, are you?

Acting DNI Maguire: "What I am saying, Chairman Schiff, is that no one, none of us, is above the law."

Why is it that no one in that room can set up new a clock? Just pull out your phone and set a timer on it!

She thought she was making some amazing point about the whistle blower quoting them saying they weren't a firsthand party to all events, and then Maguire proceeds to tell her that the IG did a thorough investigation and found the information in the report credible and urgent.
