So...I got so tied up in work chaos today I could only watch Schiff's full statement just now.

That's your real fucking Captain America right there. You want a Steve Rogers in real life, you've got one.

Shame on every single person in this forum who posted 'lol no collusion, I'm not really a Trump fan but I saw this funny meme and it's true'.

Shame on every person running around talking about the 'crazy conspiracy theory that Trump was working with Russians' and how we need to get past it and work on the real issues (this is part of the real issues, every real issue, it is all connected).

Shame on every person who perpetuates the myth that Donald Trump and is clan and ilk are not anti-American human garbage, willing to sell us out for anything that will enrich them.

You disgust me and you disgust anyone with their eyes open, and history is *not* going to look favorably on you and your stupid memes and how you sold us out with your 'jokes' and your trolling. You are trash. You enable white supremacy and so much more.

All the evidence you really need is right the fuck in front of you.

Oh no, the trust fund socialists are about to cancel AOC
Some rose twitter people are starting to spread a line about AOC/Justice Democrats agreeing not to primary incumbents. They're basing off of this Intercept article from Ryan Grim: https://theintercept.com/2019/03/27...ustos-for-her-assault-on-primary-challengers/

Ryan Grim said:
The pressure on Bustos is a rare defense of freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., by her Democratic colleagues. Ocasio-Cortez is most closely associated with the effort to primary incumbent Democrats in safe seats who are not representing their communities. She previously served on the board of Justice Democrats, which is actively recruiting challengers, and remains close with the group. Ocasio-Cortez and Justice Democrats have both made clear that they are only targeting safe Democratic seats, so as not to put the Democratic majority at risk, but paranoia within the Democratic caucus has left that promise to fall on deaf ears.

Alexandra Rojas directly responded:

Nowhere in the Splinter article (from 12/19/2018) does she say that JD's are NOT going to primary democratic incumbents in red districts, and, anyway, primarying ANY incumbents puts them and other similar organizations at odds with the DCCC's new rules.

Why are the Intercept separating AOC from the Justice Democrats? She represents them more than any other candidate with image, and her administration. Once she won her office basically became JD central. Without her the JD's currency drops significantly.

Anecdotal but my wife heard about and researched Mayor Pete yesterday and started talking about maybe donating. Not really a normal thing in my house so he must be doing something right.

That tweet that says it's 893 pages is from a guy that has 189 Twitter followers. I'm guessing it's...inaccurate.

Edit: here's a better source

Answering those questions is likely to prove difficult for lawmakers and the public. Mr. Barr has indicated to two congressional chairmen that it will most likely take weeks to redact the report for classified and grand jury information the department deems unfit for public consumption.
If the Justice Department were to deem certain aspects of Mr. Mueller's report to be subject to executive privilege, Democrats in Congress would almost certainly contest the assertion and force Mr. Trump to actually claim the privilege — and risk a court challenge — or not. Law enforcement officials had no plans to show White House officials the report before it was sent to Congress, the Justice Department official said.
Looks like somebody didn't do their homework, but hey let's bullshit our way out of it.

I've been covering Qanon for a year, and the amount of pro-Q people in this video from yesterday's Trump rally line in Grand Rapids is absolutely shocking. This is just a portion of it.

So many things in American society had to fail for this many people to believe one party is run by an actual Satanic cabal that eats children, and Trump, Jesus and Bob Mueller are secretly ending it.

Social media companies helped it grow, but this is widespread systemic failure.

New: Top Trump health official Seema Verma spends millions of taxpayer dollars on GOP-connected consultants whose contracts are routed through PR giant Porter Novelli, making them untraceable to the public. Great reporting by @adamcancryn @ddiamond https://politi.co/2U9RDXO

SEEMA VERMA - who's pushed Medicaid work rules and other controversial policies - has spent millions of taxpayer dollars on GOP communications consultants to help with her PR and image. https://www.politico.com/story/2019/03/29/seema-verma-contracts-1306652 … Exclusive with @adamcancryn

Verma's team of consultants includes (1) a specialist in helping GOP women with their brands and (2) a longtime colleague from Indiana who got blocked from a CMS job.

Their rate: $185-$200 per hour, apiece. pic.twitter.com/v0vYThJg0j

Chris Murphy @ChrisMurphyCT

If true, this is outrageous. Taxpayers shouldn't be paying millions for image consultants for bureaucrats. HHS has some serious explaining to do, especially if Verma has been trying to disguise these payments.

I grew up in GR, and have also lived there for a few a years during my adult life. It's a fun place to drink, but is also the blueprint for the kind of privileged white enclave that got Trump elected. Just loaded to the gills with callous, thoughtless people.

I really wasn't sure nor wanted to make a thread about this, but I found a recent video of a man who talks about his decent into Alt Right and fascist ideas through watching youtube videos. I found it a wonderful listen and thought it was worth sharing because of how Alt Right figure heads can manipulate and brainwash people when they're at their worst point in life.

Emerson PA poll. I'm not crazy about them as a pollster, but hey.

https://emersonpolling.reportablene...s-lead-trump-by-10-points-in-general-election

Biden 39
Sanders 20
Warren 11
Buttigieg 6 (!)
O'Rourke 5
Harris 5
Booker 4
Gabbard 3
Gillibrand 2
Yang 1
Castro 1
Klobuchar 0
Hickenlooper 0
Inslee 0
Someone else 4

Biden 55 / Trump 45
Sanders 55 / Trump 45
Warren 52 / Trump 48
Harris 51 / Trump 49
O'Rourke 51 / Trump 49

Trump approval 41, disapproval 51. 55% say they're unlikely to vote for him to just 45% who say they're likely.

Poll was conducted 3/26-28, so after the Mueller report totally exonerated him

WaPo: In small towns across the nation, the death of a coal plant leaves an unmistakable void
The vanishing of coal plants from the American landscape began years ago, but it has persisted under President Trump, who came into office promising to revitalize the coal industry. He has rolled back environmental regulations meant to curb pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, installed a former coal lobbyist as head of the Environmental Protection Agency and tweeted in favor of keeping certain units operating. And yet, utilities have continued to shut down plants.
The main reason? Coal can't compete against cheaper, cleaner alternatives, such as natural gas and solar and wind energy.
More coal plant capacity disappeared during Trump's first two years in office than during President Barack Obama's entire first term, and the closures are set to continue in 2019 and beyond.
The slow retreat of coal plants has brought what many scientists, environmental advocates and policymakers say is much-needed change. Burning coal causes air pollution that can damage the health of nearby residents. It releases large amounts of carbon dioxide, which fuels climate change. And the leftover waste lingers in landfills and storage pits that can threaten water supplies.
But in places like Adams County, with a population of about 28,000 and already one of the poorest corners of Ohio, the death of a coal plant also can leave an unmistakable void. When the Stuart and Killen stations closed last year, with them went the area's highest-paying jobs, its largest employers, its biggest taxpayers and, in many ways, its lifeblood.
-------------------
As a candidate, Trump vowed to revive the coal industry — a stance that helped garner him 76 percent of the vote in Adams County in 2016. His administration has worked to lessen regulations on both coal mining operations and coal-fired power plants, and it even proposed that federal regulators effectively subsidize coal plants. (The regulators have declined.)
But for all of the president's efforts, the numbers are not in his favor.
-------------------
For the most part, even those here who wish the Trump administration had done more to keep the two plants open don't fault the president for their closing. At least no more than they blame state officials, or Obama-era regulations, or the utility company that closed them, or environmental groups, or the unforgiving economics of the marketplace.

It's actually price transparency of procedures that is targeted with this. One of the criticized aspects of MCO driven healthcare is its secrecy around procedures and reimbursements.

The thought it that if you know up front your surgery will be 100k, and you have to pay a 20% co-pay, you might not get it. Or that doctors knowing up front a drug is 10k a month and another $50 a month will lead to trying/prescribing the lesser one.

There is some logic to it, and it would work in many instances, but it also sometimes undermines the agreements that some drug manufacturers make with providers and insurance companies.

Also, the ability to opt out of beneficial surgical procedures isn't necessarily a positive situation. The objective should be cost reduction, so that families don't have to decide whether or not they can afford care.

The Trump plan to help coal country was literally:

1. Roll back environmental protections to help personal friends

2. Give some handouts to coal mine owners who are personal friends/donors

3. Stop thinking about the issue after 6 months

Hey, my brother-in-law was the head brewer at Grand Rapids Brewing company. I'm sure they're loving that line out in front.

Grand Rapids has one of the greatest disconnects I've ever seen between city and suburbs.

I'm not shocked. Remember that Grand Rapids is the heart of West Michigan politics, which in and of itself is the heart of Michigan Republicans' real powerbase (along with the affluent lily-white exburbs of Detroit and their gated communities). The DeVos family may not live there year round anymore but their money exerts massive influence.

Sadly, given the recent shifts in ideological purity and the decline of local news there, you have a lot more people turning to the internet who are susceptible to this kind of stuff, because it makes them feel right in their belief system.

But you're also right that GR is a pretty cool city beyond that. As a former Michigander myself, West Michigan has some awesome things to do.

So Chris Hayes retweeted this interesting bit of info. So does this mean that either a) women are sharing the same guys or b) young women are sleeping with older men?
