Tobacco industry fought for decades to deny smoking's relationship to cancer. Sugar/Fast Food/Junk Food industry is fighting tooth and nail to deny sugary and highly-processed foods' relationship to obesity and metabolic disorders. Fossil fuel industry will fight tooth and nail to deny fossil fuel's relationship to global warming. When huge sums of money and power are at stake, you realize that humans are nothing more than hairless apes vying for control of resources, just as any other animal does.
All the gaslighting, propaganda, and even overtly ridiculous political theater are meant to muddy the water, sow doubt and fear, and keep the status quo going strong, lest the incumbents of power lose that wealth and power.
Also, "climate realism" sounds one-step derived from "race realism". And I'm 100% sure that that is a dog whistle and done on purpose.
Climate realism is the realization by racists that global warming will kill more brown people than any war or colonial endeavor, so they talk about preserving jobs or the economy as reasons to do nothing when what they really want is for the tropics, Middle East, Africa, South America, etc to become uninhabitable.
