Ultrawide (21:9) game recommendations please

So i recently got my first gaming pc and just upgraded to a 35" 1440p ultrawide monitor and im blown away how immersive games are.

So far iv tried:

Doom 2016
Modern Warfare 2019
Quake Champions
Halo Reach
Skyrim

All in 21:9.

Can you recommend any must trys/haves?

Im interested to know any good 2d sonic games that work with 21:9 ratio?

Monster Hunter World looks amazing in ultrawide. A large number of Microsoft games support ultrawide as well such as Gears 5 and Forza Horizon

I really like arpgs right now.

Path of exile
Diablo 3

Both can use 21:9 ratios.

Racing games benefit of this 21:9 screen, like Forza Horizon, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, etc.

Also to open world games like Watch Dogs 2, GTA V

This is actually one of the best 21:9 experiences i've ever had. It's as if the game was made for it. It is even worth a replay using 21:9.

Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition, Total Warhammer, and Forza Horizon 4 are all super impressive. Diablo 3 and World of WarCraft look great too.

I'm still pissed that Blizzard refuses to allow StarCraft 2 to have ultrawide settings.

Darksiders Genesis and all the Darksiders games. I actually played mafia 3 that way and i actually enjoyed it more. Also Watch dogs 2, Assassins creed odyssey and GTAV

Capcom big recent releases (Monster Hunter World Iceborne, Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2) all have ultrawide.

Alien Isolation, Alan Wake, Dark Souls and Prey as well.

Remember to visit the pcgamingwiki to check if any particular game has ultrawide support (and how you can patch it if it doesn't)

I love 21:9, that's why we made sure that Blind Forest and Will of the Wisps both support that aspect ratio, even though it's a pain in the ass with a 2d game.

honestly, not counting cutscenes i'm having a hard time thinking of some recent game that doesn't work with 21:9, either out of the gate or with some mod
bookmark http://www.wsgf.org/ and check the database if you're having problems

Yeah i remember seeing some quotes from you guys that ultrawide wasnt happening. And then there it was in the definitive edition. Made me really happy. Thanks for the effort.

The Witcher 3 is one of the most immersive experiences ever in Ultrawide. Is also recommend Vermintide 2.

Hitman 2 looks great in ultrawide, although I wouldn't classify it as helping with immersion the wider field of view is definitely helpful to stay sneaky.

This has been an excuse forever. Allow 21:9 in single player or vs AI, then downsize for PVP. Done. How hard is that?!?

Any dev that does not "allow" 21:9 is just plain lazy. It also dates & ages their games for no genuine reason.

Does anyone here use a 16:9 display like a big TV and run it with a custom resolution to get 21:9 with black bars?

Yeah, immersive (lul) sims I've found to take best use of 21:9. So as people have already said, Prey, Dishonored 2, and even Deux Ex Mankind Divided are great choices. Subnautica is another great one though, very immersive (and scary) on 21:9 with headphones...definite recommend. RDR 2 on 21:9 is excellent as well, the wide aspect ratio fits the western setting perfectly (good luck running it tho).

I'm playing Ori And the Blind Forest and the game have full ultrawide support, including the menus, cutscenes, loading screens, etc. Very impressive considering it's a 2D platformer.

A Long Dark (even cutscenes are perfect in UW)
CoD: Modern Warfare came free with my card. I'll give them props for delivering a perfect UW single player experience
A Plague Tale (hex edit to enable it; will get minor artifacts in the main menu though)
Metro exodus & Wolfenstein 2 (use xbox game pass)
No Man's Sky
