It's pretty obvious Johnson doesn't know about precautions considering his children.

Labour's Vicky Foxcroft asks what will the government do for people who do not get sick pay.

Hancock says the government is keeping this issue under review.

Be interesting to see what comes of this. If you're telling people to stay at home for 2 weeks, then there's obviously a potential economic hit.

But also from a public safety point of view - those without sick pay who would struggle financially may continue to work through a mild illness, and risk infecting many others.

lol. he "thinks" there were some corona virus patients.

"Labour's Chris Bryant make a point of order. He says many of the toilets on the parliamentary estate do not have soap. Will the authorities sort this out so the Commons can set an example.

Dame Rosie Winterton, the deputy speaker, says the House of Commons commission will discuss this at its next meeting."

What the fuck are these dirty buggers doing.

"Mark Fletcher, a Conservative, says there seems to be a pattern involving the appointment of female home secretaries and vicious briefing against them. Is it the case that men don't like taking orders from women?

Gove says Fletcher is making an important point. He says the UK has had four powerful and effective women in this role: Jacqui Smith, Theresa May, Amber Rudd and Priti Patel.

It's funny to see conservative talking heads come out with this defence after decrying anyone who did the same about the attacks on Diane Abbot. No, wait, the opposite of funny.

They can claim universal credit. That service is perfectly set up to keep people financed and not in dire straits.

Here's something that should bring at least a tiny smile to your face:

www.bbc.co.uk

Spitting Image to return on BritBox, 24 years after the TV show ended

The satirical puppet show has Harry and Meghan in its sights, 24 years after it was last on screens.

Good news.

And some further interesting news
www.bbc.co.uk

Priti Patel: Bullying claims from time at DfID revealed

The claims are from her time at DfID and follow similar allegations from the Home Office and DWP.

I expect she'll be resigning at some point if this continues

She will go when/if the tribunal starts getting messy or the numbers start going seriously and publicly up.

Yes, antisemitism, wonderful job, blah,blah,blah.

She's safe for now, i'm not betting on her going or anything.
But if it gets worse then it will be easier to dump her, there are plenty of tories waiting to do that job.

Agreed. All depends on Cummings, and I'm betting Patel knows that he holds her life in his hands.

Patel is going nowhere because she's loyal. Johnson doesn't have the depth in the ranks to go changing the chancellor and home sec in the first three months of a five year term.

She's there while he's there or until somebody else needs to fast track their career to PM.

Patel fits the BoJo model of being dangerously unskilled for a job before then getting fired from it. He''ll want to keep her onboard.

I'm amazed Cummings isn't trying to get her fired. How does she fit into his call for scientifically minded outsiders. She's had two cabinet jobs and has been fired once and managed to been sued by her employees in the second one.

She's a classic ideological pick, only there because she holds the same views as those in power, not because she is in any way qualified for her position. Just the sort of things Cummings claims to hate.

He seems to have plenty of cannon fodder behind him, he will try to keep her, but i'm sure he isn't going to put her above himself. she isn't that talented or unusual compared to the rest of the party.

Good basic background on Patel in this article from Huffpost.

She's basically a really detestable shield for all of the Tories racism and classicism.

"Barnier switches to English for his final remarks.
He thanks David Frost and the British negotiating team for their work.
He says two principles should guid the talks: no going back on our commitments, and mutual respect.

He says the British team spent a lot of time this week stressing Britain's independence. But no one is contest that, he says.
The question is not independence, but what you do with that, he says".

I think we have a really bad case of small man complex.

The Flybe stuff really shows a pretty big flaw in our democracy, the DUP got 1 billion pounds for votes, but this government wouldn't even loan out 130 million to keep the airline that provides 3/4 of all the flights to and from Belfast, it's going to cost their economy big time.

I came across this article discussing Ford's Bridgend factory closure:

www.theguardian.com

'It's scary': Bridgend braces for fallout from Ford factory closure

The town’s biggest employer is to leave after 40 years, leaving many residents fearful of the future

The line that stuck with me was this section:

Spectrum Technologies offers those kind of jobs, if a limited number, with a 58-member workforce that makes laser-marking equipment for aircraft wires and cables.

The chief executive, Peter Dickinson, plans to take on a handful of new employees in the next year, but has historically found it hard to recruit engineers from the company's doorstep.

Lamenting the local rail, road and air infrastructure, Dickinson says if he was choosing where to locate the company now, he would not pick Bridgend, "unless and until there is a levelling up and the government addresses the issues that impact both the region and us as a company".

The last line says it all. As a country we've neglected transport infrastructure so badly over many decades that we have to rely on crutches like FlyBe to keep regional connectivity afloat. I don't this Government is serious about levelling up the "left-behind" areas and what we will see of the next decade an increasing movement of people, jobs, and capital to those few bits of the United Kingdom that are well connected and served with reliable infrastructure.

Are the government taking the piss with Flybe. Let's level up the country, oh no planes, well wait 10-20 years and maybe they'll connect your towns and cities with better network and infrastructure. In the meantime move to mega city one.

For the last 10 years where there has been a forced society shift by the tories to try to force all parents out to work is going to bite them in the ass hard if they shut the schools

Coronavirus: Supermarkets cast doubt on minister's food supply claim

One executive says the health secretary has "made up" claims of "working with the supermarkets".

A leading supermarket executive has told the BBC he is baffled by Health Secretary Matt Hancock's comments the government was working with retailers to ensure uninterrupted food supplies.

His exact words were: "Matt Hancock has totally made up what he said about working with supermarkets."

While the supermarket was largely keeping up with demand, teams are working "round the clock" to keep shelves stocked. "We are using processes and staffing levels we set up in case of a no-deal Brexit."

a little preview of no-deal brexit

Well I'm convinced, no need for an independent investigation then.

William Shawcross
"In 2009 he signed a petition against the arrest and attempted extradition of Roman Polanski"

Not sure about this chap as a character witness.

Trupti Patel

"Trupti Patel, president of the Hindu Forum of Britain, hasn't been shy to rally her people to vote for one particular party. In an open letter on the forum's website, Patel attacks Labour and the Lib Dems for insulting Hinduism by supporting legislation to outlaw caste discrimination"

Oh dear, not sure about this one either

Lynton Crosby...

I mean, come the fuck on.

Because he knows he'll get away with it.

At the moment he would probably get away with just being straight about it, even if the donor was fairly dodgy.
But i will take the gradual gnawing away at the government these stories bring, he isn't going to stop being a dodgy fuck but people will get fed up eventually.

UK and US stock markets suffer worst day since 2008 – as it happened

Stocks have tumbled again in New York, and across Europe and Asia, as Saudi Arabia’s oil price war adds to panic over the coronavirus crisis

FTSE down 8.5% already off the back of Corona and an oil price war that kicked off over the weekend. Fun times.

We'll be fine, all these years of Austerity and Conservative rule should have solved our financial issues which were created entirely by Labour, too many Libraries and immigrants who stole all our jobs and also claimed all our benefits.
