I thought season 1 of Feel Good was enjoyable enough but found season 2 to be fairly annoying and unpleasant. Mae is likable enough as a performer, so hopefully they'll pop up again in something soon.

I can see that. Episodes 1-5 of S2 basically have Mae acting like either a cartoon character or a selfish brat. It is a turn from the way she's portrayed in S1, but I think her behavior makes sense in the context of what she's processing. But yeah, I see your point.

I thought the premiere of Kevin Can F Himself was great. Strong performances, the premise was nowhere near as confusing as I feared it might be, and the multi cam scenes actually feel like they're from a real show - not like the usual multi cam parody type of thing we've come to expect from like College Humor or whatever. It's also pretty funny. 👍

Cool! Looking forward to it. You subscribe to AMC+ or whatever it's called?

How is everyone everywhere not constantly talking about Mr. Inbetween? How is that show capable of effortlessly switching between violence, comedy, and poignancy at the drop of a hat without ever feeling forced or awkward? Every week? For 3 seasons? I mean, Season 1 was a little unpolished, I guess, and maybe it put some people off? Or people simply don't know it exists? But Season 2 was a masterpiece, and Season 3 has been phenomenal. I mean, last night's episode had me laughing one second and freakin' devastated the next.

Just, like, COME ON PEOPLE.

I really need to figure out how to get a copy of the movie that inspired the series. I see it's available for rental on Amazon for a dollar, but it's only in SD.

Watch The Magician | Prime Video

When Melbourne hit man Ray Shoesmith discovers that his next-door neighbor is a film student, he commissions him to document his life. This darkly comic tale is fictional narrative, shot like a documentary.
Wonder if there's some sort of international bluray I can import. Couldn't find anything in some quick searches yesterday.

Blacklist
I am pleasantly surprised they didn't chicken out and we are actually getting 'Reddington is Katarina aka Liz's mother'. Unless they pull a bullshit retcon next episode, of course.

Watched all of We Are Lady Parts today, and I'm blown away.

Probably one of my favorite things of this year. Not only is so aggressively brown, but its hilarious and touching and amazingly well done.

A lot of why I love this show is because of the way the characters are treated. Our leads are not stock archetypes of Muslim characters. They're just people balancing their love for punk with their love of their heritage. They're actual fucking people with neuroses and dreams and pain, and the show never makes it a point to disparage their faith or try to make it seem weird that they love punk/metal (probably because it was written by someone brown in a writers' room that was predominantly brown). Growing up, brown representation was hard to come by. I never really noticed it until recently, but everything I grew up watching never had me in mind. Disney Channel sitcoms never represented my family. I never saw anyone like me on Arrested Development or Friends. Someone like me was never the person in mind when white execs were discussing what America would like best. For years, brown characters on screen have either been borderline caricatures or folks that never address their heritage. They're either too brown or they're not brown enough, and until recently, I can't recall seeing characters who struggle with balancing their heritage with their dreams. That struggle is at the core of this show, and the way the writers and creatives depict it feels honest.

The show's sense of humor is aces, blending in cutaway gags, surreal visual humor, references, and just some really funny dialogue. The actors are all top notch too, each bringing their character's quirks and pains to life. The story of the show is pretty simple and self-contained, but again, its the characters that elevate it into something special.

I really really like the show, its just a shame its trapped on Peacock here in the States.

Finished watching Lupin Part 2. Thought it had a satisfying conclusion to the main conflict they were telling. Glad the series will continue and hopefully Part 3 has more heists.

Blacklist chickened out at the end.
I mean clearly Red is Katarina(aka Spader is really her biological mother) but they were too cowardly to say it out loud so now it'll always be "up to interpretation."

It is kind of infuriating really, they've been setting it up for so long and then they lined it all up last episode just to stop themselves from saying the words.

My girlfriend and I are doing a re-watch (for me - first time for her) of Happy Endings now that it's on Netflix and HBO Max. God I have missed this show soooo much. Bring it the hell back please!!

Halfway through MODOK on Hulu and digging it so far.

Thought the S2 premiere episode of Motherland Fort Salem was pretty solid.

Very few top 10 worthy shows thus far imo. It's been a really weak year.
Dave, Betty, and Mr. Inbetween as far as currently-airing stuff goes. For All Mankind belongs in the conversation too. Otherwise, little else. Those lists were mostly weak. Maybe Mare of Easttown deserves to be in the conversation, and I've heard enough about Hacks that I feel like I should at least check it out eventually.

Definitely check out Hacks! It's one of the more enjoyable things I've seen this year.

COVID aside, it does feel like there's a shift happening where TV in general is going to be past its "golden age" due to the sheer amount of stuff on and the many streaming sites that air their shows, resulting in more quantity than quality stuff.

It's especially difficult now for TV shows to stand out from the pack, and it will get even more difficult in the coming years.

Woo hoo! What even is the CW's streaming service? Is Seed still alive? Was that even ever paid? Is it HBO Max? Paramount Plus? Shrug.
www.cwtv.com

The CW Network | Stream Free | The CW

Official home of The CW Network, featuring Wild Cards, All American, Superman & Lois, Sullivan's Crossing, Grimm, Girlfriends, premium streaming series, movies, sports and more.

And the app. Seed is separate, and it's ad-supported. Not sure if the regular CW site/app needs proof of cable signup.

Works for me! I am a cord-haver! (gasp) And a subscriber to way too many streaming services (but I don't want any more, confound it)!

For anybody that watched tonight's episode of Mr. Inbetween - Question

Do we know yet why the girl is on the drug-running trip with Ray? She doesn't seem the type to operate in that world, I thought he might be in charge of escorting her but I'm not sure.

We don't. Hopefully the other shoe drops next week though I assume she'll be the mule.
