Once again ... a private company has the right to enforce its terms of service.

Access to Twitter and Facebook is not a first-amendment right, dumbass.

And it will get laughed out of court, if the suits ever even see the inside of a courtroom.

No, he won't. Papers won't be filed. More bluster and lies.

He might pass the plate around for the legal fund, though.

There are three Trump threads on Etc right now and I forgot how much I appreciate that Trump was banished to another universe. The world simply can't go back to revolving around that doofus.

Haha this is so dumb on every level.....also political bias isn't a federal protected class in the usa is it? I seem to remember it not being so which is why the GOP were allowed to have some of those stupid district maps they did because they said they drew them on "political" lines now racial, which was completely bs but if that's been allowed not sure how this would ever be considered a thing even ignoring the first amendment rights of companies, another thing handed to them by GOP's idiotic ideas that's now bitting them in their short sighted asses.

Judge: "Mr. Trump did you sign this?"
Trump: "THIS ELECTION WAS STOLEN. YOU THINK SLEEPY JOE WON? REALLY? YOU MUST BE SOME LAME DEMOCRAT JUDGE. ANYWAY I HAD THIS RALLY IN OHIO, THERE WAS MILLIONS OF PEOPLE, MILLIONS! THIS COURT HAS BARELY ANYONE IN HERE, IT'S SUCH A SCAM, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. ANYONE HERE KNOWS A GOOD LAWYER?!"
Judge: "Case dismissed."
Fixed it.

I assume the intent is to drum up some funding from his idiot base to 'sue Facebook and Twitter' then make a big show of prepping the papers or whatever and then the whole thing is tossed out as the bullshit it is and then Trump can squeal about being silenced by the liberal media and rile his idiot base up for more funding?

Another Trump grift. Set up a fake fund to fleece his supporters and pretend to sue, but never do anything

If this got to discovery I think it would probably be unpleasant for Facebook and Twitter. The slightest cross word in an email will be seized on by loons forever.

(That is not the same as saying the case has any chance of success. It does not, especially given it's almost certainly going to be incompetently filed nonsense and will fall on early technicalities.)

Sad when Twitter was the only company to bring down Trump. Not DOJ, not the Senate, not Dems but twitter.

Without Twitter and FB, Trump loses everything. We desperately need a non partisan arm in government that could do this as soon as they smell a fascist. But nope. Nobody want to be on the wannabe fascist bad side, let him or her destroy the country. Yuck!

On the other hand, if this goes forward Trump gets deposed and he really doesn't want to get deposed.

If you don't check "yes" in the box below and donate to the legal fund to overthrow liberal social media, we will have no choice but to let President Trump know you have been turned to the socialist Democrats.

To the "let them fight" crowd, would you be happy with an outcome where Facebook and Twitter and all social media come to the conclusion they are not allowed to ban people anymore for being extremists? There is only one positive outcome in this case, and that is Facebook/Twitter easily winning.

they don't do it much anyway and their platforms are poisoned beyond repair because of it so I'm not really sure what exactly the repercussions would be of an outcome like that.

I severely doubt that any U.S. Judge would essentially rule that private business have to be conducted like public services

Assuming he actually files it, this is dead in the water for a variety of reasons.

That said, I'm kinda surprised Trump is already jumping to frivolous lawsuits for attention.

Part of me wonders if he saw the ratings for the rallies and is worried.

His case is laughably bad, and also he's going up against dudes with teams of lawyers who could wipe the floor against even a pretty good case. This is just burning money for attention. Maybe if it gets to discovery they'll find some email that his people can turn into the next conspiracy fodder, but nothing that would actually win him the case.

Facebook in particular has a pretty shitty track record of banning trans people and sex workers, and does fuck all to ban extremists anyway, so I'm not completely convinced it would be a disaster.

But it has no chance of success anyway.

The trump movement is slowing down, there has been nothing new to rally against for them for a long time now.

They dont expect to win, only to keep the supporters engaged.

I don't know if "plz unban" is an especially compelling legal argument, and I really don't know why any lawyer would want to work with Trump after what happened to Giuliani.

From 'quake area to big OH.
I would require up front, no refund payment if I were to even entertain working for him. Then a possible 300% mark up for all the risk and bs for being associated.

Or just say nah and be drama free.

I was going to reply with the content of that southpaw tweet, but hey, there's a complaint.

Well he's actually gonna do it.

I skimmed through to the causes of action, and this is going to get thrown out so goddamn fast.

No, you cannot sue a private corporation for "Violation of the First Amendment to the US Constitution," or for a declaratory judgment invalidating an act that has not injured you in any way. This is a complete joke.

You can't sue a private company and seek the relief of invalidating a statute…. That's not the way any of this works…. Oh why do I bother it's all a grift.
