This is akin to Elon Musk yelling shit on Twitter but this time its the whole economy in the thrall of a very sick dude

It does make me wonder what a lame duck Trump presidency would look like. It's quite terrifying.

You know, I would've figured he would've tried to push something like this through with all his being since he could then turn around and claim he was the one who brought it all together.

Welp, guess I'll never fail to be amazed at just how incompetent he is.

I see some people arguing that 'people will see that it was rejected because of the extra crap thrown in.' How fucking naive. People don't need to read into that closely. The headline speaks for itself - Trump denies second stimulus.

Don't kid yourselves everyone. Trump and the entire GOP know exactly what they are doing here.

They see the writing on the wall, and are willing to lose current power as long as they get this justice in. They know the power the courts hold. They are essentially calling the Democrats bluff that they won't do anything to change the makeup of the court if they win in November.

Throw away the last realistic reelection chance to own the libs for a second.

Clownish even for Trump.

Honest question: is it possible to abolish the Republican party? Let's say Biden wins. Could he pass some kind of law to dismantle the Republican party? At this point I don't understand why it even exists, except to make sure rich folks get even richer and actively seek out to kill the poor people. It's kind of the same as Conservatives in Canada, but at least we have several political parties to choose from. USA having only two sides is a big joke, especially when one is trying its hardest to make sure everyone but the elites suffer.

The polls in the wake of this will absolutely reflect this level of stupidity. It's like he wants Biden to end up +20 in the nationals.

Going into the holidays with covid and a downturn... the amount of utility defaults being so high and going into winter, unknown how seasonal hiring will go for retail if there's another Covid bump. not to mention the airlines which are threatening huge layoffs if they didn't receive stimulus.

Trumps roid rage is kicking in, If your a republican in a tight race this is trump literally throwing a bomb in your lap. He's openly owning no stimulus on his watch... and to think a deal was most likely happening this week lol

We might be able to use the Sherman anti-trust to split them for having a monopoly on evil and sheer stupidity.

On the upside, this provides cover for the dems in the House who voted against Pelosis bill last week. Now they can tell their constituents that they tried, but it was Trump who killed it. Trump going out of his way to help the GOP lose the senate and help the dems keep a tight hold of the House. I'm surprised no one in his party has stolen his phone from him yet.

This seems like a really bad move politically let alone the human effect.

Even if this was a thing, which it isn't, getting rid of the Republican party doesn't get rid of the people in it. They would just reform under a different name.

This smells like some political trap where he then last minute does approve the stimulus and tries to look like he saved the day or some shit.

No. That would be unconstitutional. We can however change our election laws to have a voting system where the winner needs a majority of the vote instead of a plurality, but changing election laws will be very very hard.

Relax, Biden is going to pack the court. His refusal to answer when pressed shows as much. He's just dodging the question to avoid scaring the moderates and giving the GOP more "socialist" points to talk about.

Everything is on the table should they win the trifecta, but they have to get the trifecta first. After that, all bets are off.

Besides, it's already proven through polling that people generally like progressive policies, it's the messaging (aka the attacks from GOP calling everything "socialism") that scares them away.

then they are going to hand the shitbag to Biden and place all the blame on democrats. Democrats need to be ahead of this.

im sure the news organizations will keep things fair and balanced next year 🙄

There is no law he could create that would specifically dismantle the Republican party.

Closest you could do is create some campaign finance laws that would make it more difficult for the GOP to raise and deploy funds, but all political parties would be beholden to those same rules, including the Democrats.
