It's so absurdly obvious that he has no idea what to even do with that Bible. It seems like not only has he never opened a bible, but he's never opened any book in his life.

It is absolutely beyond me that anyone could think that this man is smart or pious in any way.

#BunkerBoy is still #BunkerBoy.

He only emerges when he can clear away all those scary non-violent peaceful protesters that hurt his feelings.
If him running around leads to police violence and innocent people getting hurt, he should stay in the bunker. Disgusting behaviour from trump.

You can stand up for what's right, or you can stand up for the man who called your wife ugly and connected your dad to the JFK assassination.

Saw her other GOP response tweets.

"Didn't really see it."

What the fuck are these politicians doing then?

You can be arsed to pay attention to what's going on in the country, then why be a politician?

I know they're just avoiding the questions, but it's still frustrating to read that and that more people aren't giving them crap for it.

He's holding it upside down, which is understandable because it looks like his hand is about to catch fire.

Still furious about this. This can't just be another fleeting Trump scandal. He gassed children and seniors and clergy. And now they are all trying to lie about it.

The people who arent with oppressed groups will just see black people anyway not pastors.

You will never see those megachurches standing with the oppressed. More religious people need to combat the weaponization of their faith. The pope outright needs to call out Catholics and condemn Trump but the abortion bullshit is too important for them to give a damn

I'm a Christian, transgender, queer, pro choice, and a socialist. None of these are in conflict for me. My church has been impassioned in it's defense if the marginalized and I'm consistently proud of them. Problem is, the megachurches and prosperity gospel grifters are a lot more popular and well connected to the Republican party and political culture war.

The President of the United States got so triggered by a Twitter hashtag that he gassed a church and assaulted news reporters in response to show he's actually very brave.

Very stable person that totally shouldn't be immediately removed from office.

So I guess the park police are saying that tear gas was not used and the protesters were throwing bottles. Which...I mean. That's their defense?

"The lying media is telling you that we disbanded a group of protesters and media using pepper spray, flashbangs, unmitigated violence and tear gas so the President could stand in front of a church that did not want him there. But I can assure you, we did not use tear gas."

This doesn't quite fit any of the threads perfectly, but last night the military used helicopters to disperse crowds in the DC.

dcist.com

Protesters In D.C. Met With Heavy Police Presence And Helicopters After Curfew

A helicopter flying near the Capital One Arena descended over protesters, coming low enough for its wind to rip branches from trees.

And you read that right, disperse, not just watch.

What? Haven't they literally been in session to pass laws in response to the protests and actively denounced the assault?
You're right. They have denounced it.

Pelosi, Schumer Joint Statement On Trump Press Conference & Photo-Op

Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer issued this statement after President Trump tear-gassed peaceful protestors following a press conference in which he ordered troops to “dominate the streets”

I still think the Democrats' response doesn't match the severity of Trump's actions in the last two days. A president teargassing his own citizens for absolutely no reason? He should be impeached all over again.

Is it worth starting another impeachment inquiry? Or would it be more beneficial to focus on the election in November?
In general, I'd agree. Impeachment should be the option but seeing how the GOP handled the first one, I don't see a different outcome. Instead you give ammunition to the Trump campaign with another "Impeachment Hoax" his supporter will just leap up.

The focus should really be to get Trump out of the WH in November.
But keep protesting. If need be the whole summer.

I know it's a waste of breath to say, but so many people in this admin need retribution of the highest order. However, I feel like Bill Barr is the most evil being to ever hold office. We knew who he was and we let him in there anyway. He's basically whispering in Trump's ear ways to do all the terrible stuff he has been up to this year.

Daniel Dale @ddale8

Asked on Fox News radio about religious leaders criticizing his church photo op, Trump claims, "Most religious leaders loved it. I heard Franklin Graham this morning, thought it was great."

Trump: I did hold up a Bible, and "I think that's a good thing, not a bad thing."

Trump claims he didn't know who was outside and didn't order anyone to move out protesters; he just planned to walk to a church, a church that "went through trauma."

Renato Mariotti @renato_mariotti

Trump claims he went into an underground bunker during the protests to "inspect" it.

That is one of his most absurd lies yet. https://twitter.com/kaitlancollins/status/1268175985108824064 …

I can't even fathom being dumb enough to believe any of these blatant lies. Trump had no idea and he was just going to walk out into thousands of people screaming "Fuck Trump"? The fuck?

I saw someone arguing that there was no tear gas, and that they only used flashbangs and smoke bombs. So is there any proof on what was really used?
