Currently playing it. The artstyle looks SO MUCH better with the movable camera and real 3D backgrounds, it literally feels like a PS1 era game and I love it. It looks so good.
HUD and Menu is definitely 1080p docked, in-game graphics, I'm not sure. It kinda doesn't look like completely native but still great.
Handheld, after some impression here, I was hoping more from. It looks good, also not really native but not problematically bad, just, it's a bit hard for the eyes and a bit much to be honest.
The whole UI and everything doesn't feel great in handheld and the in-game graphics let's my eyes tear a bit. Was hoping for a more sharper look on the 720p screen.
So far I definitely prefer docked mode.
Gameplay seems good, but immediately not as polished and thought through as fire emblem as example.
Like, how can easily see what reach each attack has? Does it only work with trying to attack?
Remember to submit your concerns when the survey is out. The game still has a year of development time and player feedback was pretty crucial to Bravely Default II's development. I imagine most complaints could be ironed out within this last year as development seems pretty far along.
With the elemental combinations, is this a mashup of Divinity Original Sin 2, and FF / Ogre Tactics?
Only downside was not having Yasunori Nishiki to make the OST. Not that the music on the demo is bad, but his work on Octopath was unforgettable
Same. Don't even need to play anymore. This is what I've been waiting forJust did the first battle. This is everything I wanted. Story wise remains to be seen, but I'm very optimistic.
Yeah very confused by thisBtw, the Japanese site has the developer as Art Dink, and not Acquire (who did Octopath).
This is Akira Senju of Victory Gundam and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood though. I really like Nishiki's work on Octopath but it's not like they got an amateur or anything.Only downside was not having Yasunori Nishiki to make the OST. Nice! Good to know. I'm enjoying so farThis is Akira Senju of Victory Gundam and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood though. I really like Nishiki's work on Octopath but it's not like they got an amateur or anything.
Played the first mission and my goodness. This is extremely good. Here are my early impressions, spoilers.
+Music is great as expected
+The world seems extremely interesting, you get side stories that you can see that makes the world feel alive. You can even recruit party members this way.
+The VAing is really good from what I heard with a few expections ( Serenoa's VA is not good imo)
+You can press x during dialogue to get a small description of who is talking so you know who is who. This is awesome.
+Battle UI is good, everything is self explanatory.
+I LOVE the fact that there are 3 phases to this game. There are hidden items during the exploration phase so it actually feels rewarding. I wonder if there will be any kind of dungeons, though I doubt it.
+Using magic to make objects in the battle map opens a ton of possibilities and strategies, I hope we get more interesting magic down the road.
-Movement during exploration feels awkward, it's not the same feeling as OT.
-Battles can feel very sluggish and slow.
-The worldmap looks very ugly, like a 3d map with no texture. I hope they improve it.
Yeah it was pretty easy. If there's a hard mode in the final game I'll definitely be picking it. I'm a strategy RPG veteran though. What really matters to me is that the battle mechanics seem like everything I want in these types of games. I'm not too worried about difficulty.played through the first part of the demo - there's still quite a bit of polish that needs to be done, but it seems quite good. very interested to see how many skills each character gets, if there's any kind of classing that goes on, weapon upgrades/types, etc.
had the opposite problem of some others here where I felt the combat, even after their "we're going to beef up the difficulty so you have to learn about the strategic elements" comment, was too easy. but I've been playing this type of game for quite some time, so I'm not terribly worried. in general I'm very pleased by the part I played (first battle) and honestly don't even think I need to go through the rest to know how I feel. (I still will, though)
