I like her theme music at the start.

The various conflicts they're setting up through her are promising. Particularly her last quote as the trailer closes, where she's defying your (her spouse's) judgment, presumably if you side against her people. Very curious to see all the potential twists and turns in the story, and characters' fates, depending on your choices.

Seems there'll be fixed training map challenges as a training/grinding mechanic, instead of something like the random battles in FFT/TO.

Less than six weeks! Can't wait.

Shame we aren't getting this in NA:

Not stopping me from importing it though.

This really does look wonderful, I hope it scratches that FFT itch! I'm so curious about the different paths through the story, I wonder how many different variations there are?

Two questions!

1. Do we know if we can play this in Japanese? The English VO suuuucks.

2. Is there anything out there on the customization? The demo had like nothing. I would hate for this part to be shallow.

Seemingly an absolute ton, like every 1-2 chapters there's a choice with divergent outcomes/battles. But not all of them are far-reaching; some will probably only make for a single different map.

From preview material, we know of:

* A short route split before the demo portion, where the player can choose to tour either Hyzante or Aesfrost with Roland and co.
* The demo's route split (Surrender or Defend Roland), which seems to have far-reaching ramifications.
* In the very next chapter, there's another route split for both the Surrender and Defend Roland paths. One of these seems like it could be a 1-chapter split, but the other... kind of doesn't, from what little we know.

Plus several other Scales of Conviction choices we've seen happening but have no info on.

1. You can.

2. There doesn't appear to be a freeform job system akin to FFT/TO. However, there does seem to be job promotions for each character later in the game, and there's also a skill tree for their weapon, which was shown in Famitsu:

Really weird how up and down the VO quality is for Square Enix games.

Octopath and Bravely Default 2 were well done. Triangle Strategy is all over the place.

Tactics fans be eating this year. I'm deep into Fae Tactics on Gamepass and it's a blast. Getting TS day one for sure.

God damn, that looks great. I bounced off of Octopath, but I am so in for this.

That cover though....YEESH. Shield my eyes from that atrocity.

Honestly, this is my most anticipated game. Especially with that ongoing retrospective of FF Tactics going on....phew. I can't wait!

Thanks for the above info, Disclaimer. I haven't really sat down and followed this quite as closely as I should.

Game looks so damn super. It's going to be a lot of fun writing guides for this, methinks.

Man i am honestly most excited to play this over any other game this year. My switch will finally get turned on again after almost a year of me not gaming on it.

I like what I see for sure, March is going to be expensive with Kirby + Rune Factory 5 + this, haha.

This... is massively disappointing to me. I've stayed fairly blind on this since playing the demo, but I just assumed there would be a job system.

While I also love job systems, on the flip side, fixed jobs allows for far more balanced encounter design, rather than the totally imbalanced mush that was FFT.

Finally. The JP one has been out for like a month. Man, the english VA is just not good. I go dub for just about all games, but this one... oof.

This is definitely a game that looks great, but I'm gonna need some good reviews. The demo was disappointing and slow.

I cannot wait for this game. One of the rare games I plan to replay almost immediately, if not immediately.

Hope this is good. Liked the demo but I'll be waiting to hear impressions of the story and gameplay. I know it's "on brand" but the final title for the game is so bad.

The ratio of exposition to gameplay in the demo was too skewed for me. The mechanics of the gameplay seemed promising, but I'm going to tune out and not finish the game if that was indicative of the pacing in the full game.

What didn't you like about it? I thought it was slow, but I kinda think all isometric tactics games are slow.
Definitely too much cutscene to gameplay, but even within gameplay, the amount of time all actions, turns, and abilities took was just a slog. I think the FFT mobile version had a speed up feature and it was much appreciated.

Edit: Maybe misremembering. I dunno. Just let me go fast lol

I thought the demo was slow, as well. Game speed and the awfulness of per-action EXP gain could totally tank the replayability.

Looks awesome. The beta was fairly good, I hope the final product lives to the expectations.

Preordered with a 22% discount. Not bad!

I sure do hope this game doesn't have a 'everyone is alive and friendship conquers all' route. Let me lose characters and be punished for the choices I've made.

I can't believe we're finally getting a tactics game of this caliber after so many years hoping for a FFT/FFTA sequel. I love everything about this video. The OST is awesome. Can't wait.

I truly truly hope this game is good. I played the demo and found bits of it a bit lacking mostly in the areas of performance and UI flow. If they can make the general responsiveness and speed of the control better, this would be super duper high on my list of games to play this year.

Hm, might be a bit troublesome if there isn't enough build variety without a job system. The game's apparently fairly long and seems to be incentivizing replaying thanks to the amount of story variations. But of course the story variations themselves could provide the necessary variety since they come with different battles.

This is reminding me that I still need to go back and play the Surrender Roland route of the demo.

This setup with the Roselle seems similar to the other, where you can take a more heartwrenching/diplomatic choice vs heroicly going against the odds. Video games have kinda conditioned players into picking the option to save and defend people, so am hoping they do a good job portraying the challenges and costs of those decisions. The Roland Defense one got into the cost of the people/village of that decision, if I recall.
