Not just FPS games, it should be standard for third person too.
The funny thing about Destiny is that a player can swap to third person view at any time which has a much much wider FoV than anything you can get in First Person even on PC (provided it's not ultra wide).
Very nice.
Excuse the ignorance, but what is the negative impact of a wider field of view? Does it have a negative impact on performance? I'm not sure why it isn't offered in more games.

it can affect performance yes, and also higher fov means that stuff in the distance may appear smaller, which, if you play on a small TV, or you sit too far, can be annoying.
90 is the default "go to" FOV on PC, then adjust from there. This will be my first time dealing with a FOV slider. Is there a sweet spot most people agree on?
Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the info!
Any clue what FOV most CODs on consoles is set to?
Beta is a different file. The Beta isn't live yet either so you'd likely see "connecting" there too, haha.Hey guys, a bit out topic but do I have to download the beta or i can use the same alpha file? Asking because the alpha file is stuck in connecting screen
Most console FPS/TPS, as I've known it from the PC comparisons, are set to an FOV of 65.Thanks for the info!

Depends on how far you're seated from your TV. I find 90-100 degrees to be very comfortable. Some folks prefer lower FOVs like 80. Some prefer extreme FOVs like 120.This will be my first time dealing with a FOV slider. Is there a sweet spot most people agree on?
