Really hope a driver fixes these hitches. It's like 2-3 times a session, but it just hangs for a solid second or two. Other than that it runs incredible, but when it happens it just feels like shit
I hope so, too. Can be pretty annoying, I nearly died a couple of times because of this.

Ok so this hang and crash i get is only on Ultra settings. Don't know which setting it is or the whole damn thing. That said I can at least play at High settings. Don't have the time right now to test which setting in Ultra is causing the crash. Quite a few have posted on Ubi forum with same issue.

In-game benchmark results

Fully maxed, 1440, Resolution scaling 85%
WZ5Sg0.jpg

Same as above but resolution scaling at 100%

A +10fps increase, and 85% is barely noticeable to me so I think I'll stick with that. Pretty pleased with the performance overall.

Game supports asynchronous compute.
Probably explains why amd and turing GPUs seem to outrun their "normal counterparts" here

there does not seem to be any AA settings in-game. TD1 did have them

is there any outside INI or config file to change AA settings? in TD1 I set the post-processing AA off, but it looks like it's on in TD2

For comparison:

DX11, Max Settings (No CA or Vin), 1440, Res Scale 85%

Looks like the first game I've bought that actually benefits from DX12

I'm lvl 23 now but its been a hard with constant crashes every 10-30 mins, DX11 runs longer but DX12 stutters like crazy and crashes quicker. It often stutter right before it crashes but times if i don't move it don't crash.

What does resolution scaling do exactly? I had it at 100% and moved it to 85% and picked up 10 frames...I'm not seeing a difference in graphical quality.

I literally cannot notice the res scaling at 85%. Tried to find a difference and failed. And it gives me +10fps at 85%. So it's a no-brainer.

Reporting in that DX12 also crashes periodically for me just like the first game. I believe that removing all overlays really helped in the first game, so I'm going to try this later. I've only got Uplay and Nvidia overlays running (no Afterburner/RTSS), and had it run fine for about two hours before it started consistently crashing. This is with a GTX 1070 on the latest drivers.

My game doesn't unlock until Friday, but I noticed MSI Afterburner and RTSS got updated today. Might not crash with DX12 now. I know an update helped a game out in the past from crashing.

I need to try that 85% scaling. Running a 1080ti at 1440p and I'd like to see what frames I can get out of it. Have a few options turned down to high as I don't notice them in gameplay. Going to try turning on dx12 as well since I turn it off in everygame by default.

Luckily I haven't had much, if any, noticable hitching although I only have about 4 hours of total playtime currently.

Really hard not to upgrade to a 2080ti but Im holding out until new cards drops.

I ran the game fine on high with a 1070ti. The game is heavily cpu bound it seems. Chucking a 2080ti at it won't solve your problem at 1440p.

Im using a 6700k at 4.5 right now.

If I were to get a 2080ti I'd also upgrade the cpu/mobo.

I'm not getting bad performance in the slightest but I'd like to get as many frames while keeping high settings.

Sorry for the random question but are there any people playing this with a GTX1660 by any chance? If so how has it been running?

Looking at doing a refresh on my home computer and was thinking of grabbing a 1660 but due to how new they are and with D2 only on early release I haven't found much info.

What performance can I expect with:

6700k @ 4.6
32gb ram
1080ti
3440x1440

I have to ask, how's the gamepad support? I enjoyed playing the first with a gamepad while couch gaming. Likely will do the same with D2.
I have my one pad constantly plugged in to my pc next to me on my desk, and I often switch over from my m&kb and lean back in my chair and relax for a bit.

It feels great to play. Aim-assist is quite good, in that you can very easily get lazy headshots with it. You can turn it off too if you'd rather go skill-mode, but I enjoy lazing back chucking out un-earnt headshots sometimes! :p

So yeh, I can recommend it.

My hitching/framerate drop issue is actually getting worse. It was like 2-3 times per session before, but I just had about a dozen instances like that in my last mission. One very strange thing however, is that the first one to happen during that mission happened when I completed a UbiClub challenge. It dropped to about 20fps for a solid second or two, went back up, and then the challenge popped. Interestingly, this is exactly what happens if I go to the UbiClub challenge page in the menu, it just drops the game to 15-20 fps and keeps it there until I leave the menu, which makes me wonder if these random drops in an otherwise perfectly performing game (on my rig) aren't connected to this Ubisoft service stuff.

(Sorry, I meant to trim the video and get an FPS counter on it, but you can see how different the gameplay is from the UbiClub menu)

Getting mostly 60fps on my i5-8400 with a 1080 running in 1440p with default settings (not quite maxed out but close).

I am getting dips in the high 40s from time to time tho.

I'm also getting a some bad hickups from time to time that almost feel more like network lag than actual video performances issues.

Oh and I got a crash to the desktop once so far...

Not too bad for an Ubisoft game on day 1 I'd say...

Have you tried the res scaling option?

At 85% I gained +10fps and couldn't notice the difference at 1440. Might help with those dips!

Ah! Good to know, I'll give that a try tomorrow for sure!

I think that switching to DX12 helped a bit too which was a first for me lol. I feel like every games that I've tried DX12 in were always performing worst compared to dx11.

Same, that gave me a +10fps increase (or dropping to dx11, rather, dropped 10).

And same, this is the first time it's been an obvious benefit or not made it worse.
