Division 2 is fun, but much like other Ubisoft games, it hammers my CPU so the FPS is all over the place (Thank God for G-Sync)

2080 is only getting about 50% usage.

Going to try it on Xbox when it runs, since thats the platform I'll be playing on (Gamesharing with a mate)

For any G-sync users: keep V-Sync off in-game. It's on by default (was for me) and it was definitely the cause of some burps and lurches in framerate.

Playing on 6700K CPU, 2080 Ti, native 3440x1440 ultra wide, all settings maxed, framerate is capped at 75 to match my monitor w G-sync and at best, locked with small dips to 65fps or so. Only 30 minutes in, but fairly solid so far. Far more impressive than Anthem beta, that's for sure.

What options can be turned off to better performance with a minimal impact on graphics?

I have a 4790k

Have you maxed out manually or just used the ultra preset?
I'm getting 63+ minimum in heavy scenes at 1440p with my 2080 Ti, but I manually set everything to max. The ultra preset isn't really "ultra"
I'd say I am in the 65 - 100 range. I just wonder about the minimums.

What are you getting on 1080p?

At 1080 it's mostly 60 fps. Dips every now and then, but infrequently enough that I don't mind. Settings are a mix of high and medium.

SolidSnakeUS Did a bit of testing and the settings that net about 60 at 1080p run at 44-50 at 1440p. Dropping to the medium preset gets me to 50-60 fps, and dropping to low gets 60. So you could play it 1440p/60 with a mix of medium-low settings. There's also a resolution scale setting (50%, 75%, 85%, 100%) that allows you to drop the rendering resolution down while keeping the UI at native res. With 1440p and resolution scaling at 75% (i.e. 1080p rendering resolution), it's 60 at high-med. The anti-aliasing in this is really good and even at 75% scale the image looks very clean. There's also a setting that allows you to sharpen the image a tad. I would personally play it like this.

CPU is a 4690K btw.

I've settled on medium preset for 90 - 144fps as I use a 144Hz monitor. Definitely reboot the game after you change settings as it seemed to make everything smoother for me. DX11 was better than DX12.

Good to know. Thank you. I have a 6770k and a 970 right now. Been really thinking of a 2080 to replace it.

Dang, now I'm thinking of dropping rendering scale to 75% and playing it with all bells and whistles turned to maximum.

I have gone in and set everything to max. I'm using DX11, as DX12 seemed broken for me. Dropped to 20 FPS.

I got a pretty hilarious bug. I start the beta on uplay and I get steam overlay.... with the fps counter, ability to screenshot and access my friendlist. According to steam, I'm playing The Crew 2.

Default brightness and contrast make the game seem pretty washed out, I wish they had a way to judge the correct numbers

It took me four or five attempts to boot this successfully, initially I was just getting a black screen.

Have a feeling it doesn't like RTSS or maybe Shadowplay? Only things I can think of.

2600k and a 1070 got me a locked 60 on High with a couple of things on medium with some occasional stutter which could be because of the beta.

Overall quite pleased and once again the 2600k keeps on trucking. The damn thing just refuses to die.

I managed to play the game on my PC. I literally had to uninstall all the RGB apps that I had installed LOL.

The EAC doesn't boot me out of the game anymore (or refuses to open it), but now I'm getting random crashes. There a lot of people getting this crashes so I hope it'll get a fix soon.

The same goes for Dualshock 4 support.

2014 thread: https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/953729-Dualshock-4-rumble-not-working
2018 thread: https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/1738230-PS4-Controller-Vibration-not-working

Still not fixed in this beta build.

Tbh, this is a deal breaker for me. Especially since the game is not on Steam now so I can't use Steam API to hook my DS4 as XBox controller. This was the only way for me to get vibration in the first game. Anthem it is for me.
So I managed to find a workaround for this last night.

It's simple, just run the game through Steam (add the .exe file as non-Steam game) so it will hook the Steam API. Even though it's displaying XBox buttons now, it's still better than no vibration at all.

I would imagine much of the rendering is based on TAA existing for it to look anywhere near presentable.

I think you mentioned something about it in the video, I cannot remember the line exactly but I think it was something about AA being better on PC. I wonder if it can be altered via sub-settings after the launch 🤔🤔

The crashing comes from DX12 for me but the game runs better on DX12 with my Vega but even alt+tab out just crashes the game.

Copied from the OT.

This has been a very weird beta. .

Frequent screen freezes every so often and then the game has to catch up in Benny Hill speed, framerate being very weird, Textures suddenly being gone to a point it was basically a lego game, team mates beng invisible and ice skating while flaling their arms around, cut scenes not wanting to load, the sound sounding tinny and often just dissapearing. Hogging resource so much even discord started cut in and out. Even when putting my settings on medium and disabling all the crazy post processing stuff.

The Division 1 beta while not that stable ran way better than this and this is so close to launch

Running it on a GTX1080 8 GB
16 GB RAM.

Are those Ultra like in "maxed out", or Ultra preset benchmarks?

Interesting to see DX12 being a tiny bit better then DX11, at least at lower resolutions.

If you are having problems with G-Sync and DX12 on Nvidia after the FreeSync driver update.
It has something to do with two displays being active while booting. Some people need to unplug their second display from HDMI before starting their PC, for me it is enough to not power on the non GSync display untill windows has finished loading. Annoying, but a workaround.

DX11 works fine though, no matter what and how many displays are active while booting.

Anyone else had weird performance issues like this? When I first tried the game yesterday the performance was horrible, I had 15-25 fps while using mostly medium settings. I installed the latest radeon driver and tried again, everything was smooth / 80ish fps. Now I had finally time to play some more and when I logged in it was the same horrible performance again (sub 20 fps). I'm not sure what is happening there.( Medium settings and 1080p)

How much ram do you have? My 2070 is only getting 50-55 but I only have 8GB's of 800MHz ram (I've got 16gigs of 1800MHz ram coming in the mail). I have the same CPU as you clocked at 4GHz. I'm running at 1080p.

What are the big performance savers I can turn down / off?

Okay I'm bumping this thread because I don't know what to do anymore. The game runs terrible for me using mainly medium settings at 1080p. I get 70-80 frames but it's a stuttery mess, getting 1fps drops every couple of seconds. I tried reinstalling drivers and it didn't do anything. I heard capping the framerate would help but it didn't do much for me.

I've got 16GB (at 1866 MHz, DDR3), so that might have something to do with your performance. This game ate up around 6GB of ram, which was about 9-10GB of total system usage while playing.

As for performance savers, I found volumetric fog pretty heavy, extra streaming distance and object detail to be relatively impactful. I think all the shadow and spot shadow settings are probably more important though. I found something that worked for me and didn't fiddle too much with it (shadow quality high, spot shadows medium, spot shadow resolution high, contact shadows all high).

The following runs relatively well for me, still dips every now and then in very specific areas, but its' mostly 60.

Like the other poster, you might be hurting for ram. What do you have object detail and extra streaming distance set to? Those seem to hit memory usage pretty hard.

Object detail appears to be the main setting controlling where LOD pop in takes place, higher being farther away. Not quite sure how it works in combination with streaming distance. Lowering streaming distance helped a lot when I was bouncing between 60 and 59 fps, causing stutter.
