Youtube must have known, figured that (5th anniversary) was why lots of The Mummy 2017 videos were on the main page.
Eh, this could've been good if it had the right people in charge. All the classic movie monsters existing in the same universe and occasionally overlapping is a solid idea, but the execution was just that, an execution.
This is what I came here for. The attempts to couple 80 year old black and white horror with epic modern blockbuster marketing…so good.
You need REAL horror fans to head such a universe (they'd be more likely to know what would fly and what wouldn't), not executive types thirsty for the MCU-money and DEFINITELY not one of the writers responsible for the early Bayformers movies and racist stereotypes Skids and Mudflap.
My apologies lol. Allow me to offer this video of Tom Cruise screaming as payment for my mistake.
And if horror wasn't mass market enough for their liking, they already had an existing and well-loved Mummy blockbuster on which they could model their approach. Building a series of pulpy, swashbuckling adventures around old timey movie monsters surely would've worked out better for everyone than whatever the hell you'd call Mummy '17.

Any attempt at a modern shared universe of movies concerning the classic Universal monsters that didnt likewise include a modern reboot of Abbott and Costello as its connective tissue a-la Nick Fury was doomed to failure.
