As a kiwi who just came home from a vigil for the victims of the massacre, thank you Tim. This was lovely to hear.

Well said, Tim. Glad someone is saying it frankly instead of skirting around offending extremists.

You go Tim! You know your on the right path when TheQuatering is already posting angry tweets about this statement.

Omg lol! I think the second best part about reading this has been that I haven't seen this dude appear on my feed. My Youtube blocks must finally be working, for now.

Fuck white supremecists indeed.
Respect to Tim Schafer for taking this moment to stand with us.

The refusal of the games industry to tell off gamergate and their shitheels directly shows that despite all work into making video games more diverse and less open to jerks, that they won't deal with the root of their issues in the first place to sell a few more copies of their games. What Tim said is what EA, Blizzard, and especially THQn should say, and had said years ago.

So basically "fuck bad people"? No hate, but why do some people react like he said something special?

Because there are a lot of white supremacists and people who (willingly or not) defend white supremacy in the gaming community. It should be an obvious statement, but it's already very easy to find tons of angry gamers complaining about his statement if you step outside of ERA.

Hero. Tim's a treasure to have in this industry and it's an obvious statement that everyone should get behind

Calling people out on being a (Neo)Nazi, white supremacist or anything along that line, is considered (potentially) controversial these days?

What a time to be alive, truly the most bizarre of time lines.

Tim is great, as are a lot of the people who work at DF in my experience.

Would love to see more people in the industry take a stand like this.

Because the gaming industry and a big portion of the gaming community as a whole too often fails to call these nitwit shitstains of humanity out for their shittiness. The Sonys and Nintendos and EAs stayed quiet when GamerGate was at its worst & even did harmful things that pandered to that audience. No one in the gaming industry has taken any kind of stance against THQ Nordic for pandering to a forum of child porn spreading racist shitgibbons. Silence is too often the answer from this industry.

Could the entire industry please line up behind Tim and say once and for all:

Fuck white supremacists.

If that's controversial now then the bad guys have already won. Don't let a message speaking out against hate be seen as something to criticize.

Fucking hell, this is amazing. Didn't think it was possible to like him more than I did.

So basically "fuck bad people"? No hate, but why do some people react like he said something special?

It's more that he said it in such an eloquent, rational way in a place where people often either say nothing, or take it to extremes. This level-headed approach is the only way to efficiently tackle these issues.

Good job on Tim.

For making people feel more welcome.
For denouncing white supremacists.
For calling out companies that want to cater to them.

The fact that this all is relevant is a sad reality. Nothing about it should be controversial.

he's taking a stand that should be obvious, but that so many companies and public figures seem to be afraid to take publicly, as they don't want to alienate the utter cunts who would be alienated by statements like these

Yep, very sad that someone would feel like they need to say this type of thing.

But people need to say this type of thing. So good on him.

"Leave politics out of my games!"
I can imagine plenty of people thinking of this, sadly.

Well said Tim, needs to be said more often.
