Tim Drake finally has a superhero name of his own

Tim has been the third Robin, but not the last. But he's never evolved passed that name, unlike Dick, Jason, or Stephanie. Even after Damian came into play, Tim had to start going by Red Robin which... that's not much of an evolution. Sure he got a different costume here and there, but he's still saddled with being another Robin, despite no longer being that direct sidekick.
First, he was a Robin... finally with pants!
Then he's a Robin... minus the green!
Now he's Red Robin, which is like a red Batman! (insert joke about Daredevil here)
Now he's a bird guy from the late 90's.
"Eh, just slap another R on him. It's fine."
Finally in Young Justice #8, when facing off against his Earth 3 counterpart, the most obvious solution:

So there ya go. Tim finally has an identity of his own... which he had to steal from his evil self from another dimension.
So... superhero comics? He's doing better than what they've done with Dick 'Ric' Grayson lately none of the recent changes work for me at all.
I always wondered why later writers changed Robin to being a bird reference rather than a Robin Hood one as it was originally intended.
But regardless, that new costume is visual yawn.

I'm just struggling to understand why your code name would literally be your last name. Doesn't seem very reasonable for a hero in the Batverse.
Oh, Bendis wrote this. After what he's done to Jon Kent, yeah this makes perfect sense.
Think DC would be much better off if they dropped the guy. Marvel, stay away too. Let him stick to the realm of independent comics which is what he does best.

No idea. :O I've been so bad at keeping up since New-52 and Rebirth.
He's writing like a third of the DC line. He's not going anywhere.
First he defects to Marvel and then he'll be able to migrate to Disney to take over the role of Darkwing Duck from the guy who just got it in the new Ducktales.
Really needs some green in there. Especially since it's both thematic and an unclaimed Robin color. Jason has red and Signal has yellow.
