At this point it's obvious that their plan is to just ignore it. If no one anywhere is willing to follow it through then nothing will happen. The media are happy to drop it so you can expect it to be dead within a few days which is obviously exactly what they want to happen.

If you try to bring it up after this it'll be 'that's over now, why bring it up again?' Or 'just leave us alone this has nothing to do with that'.

They did a horrible thing but everyone who could have actually done anything about it has decided to ignore it so they'll get away without any consequences.

Then again, it's the video game industry, why the fuck would it ever be anything else?

In all seriousness you'll see the people directly involved in this on stage at E3 or the Game Awards before the end of the year. Because why the fuck not right? Why the fuck not?

Personally I hope it continues to get brought up as and when there are any attempts to do PR for their games. Senior management/Representatives of studios making THQ Nordic games should be asked about it if they're doing any press etc.

There is no point in asking innocent people about this. Especially since there are probably not allowed to give any answer to it. In my opinion it's important to differentiate between the parent company and the subsidiaries here.

User banned (1 week): Attempted thread derails, misinformation, backseat moderation over multiple posts
Ok, so a post like this gets a user banned for a week:

It means that GAF 'before imploding mod team' would surely took more drastic measures over this incident regarding THQ.

But using slurs like "retard", using dog whistle tactics to defend anti-LGBTQ beliefs, and excusing sexism in games is either a "warning" or a 1-day ban?

This isn't the best look mods, and I expect better from a site that wants to be progressive.

I am with you here. This should not be kept quiet, ever, by any outlet. Especially the big ones who already covered it.

I am also sorely disappointed in several YTers I followed, whom I've immediately unsubscribed. Their lack of coverage about this issue speaks volumes.

I am sure that any future PR event will have the representatives of the press filtered and make them know not to stir this wasp nest. And if some journalist go against the grain they ll tell that it was a terrible mistake and they have apologized.

I did not suggest ascribing blame to innocent people, just asking for their take.

They'll either defend the publisher's position/tow the party line, in which case they are complicit and we'll know, or they'll distances themselves and condemn the publisher, which will put pressure on the publisher.

Either way, THQ Nordic should not be allowed to slip back into regular promotion of their games without adequately addressing this stuff. Pressure should be maintained, and any press seeking to draw the connection between the publisher's actions and the games that the publisher is trying to sell should be commended.

This isn't very accurate, Waddle Dee. Most of what you've described here isn't how we moderate content, especially when it comes to excusing sexism and anything anti-LGBTQ. There may have been a small amount of actions like that when we launched the site, but our moderation practices and policy quickly evolved and will continue to as needed. Please remember that most bans take into account a users infraction history, and if you concerns with moderation actions to contact a moderator captain instead of derailing a thread (check the active staff roster for who to contact).

Brock, Pollice, and Fabian need to go or I'm never buying another THQ Nordic GmbH published game ever again. This shit-show is fucking disgusting and I feel really bad for the developers under the THQ Nordic banner.

It's always a good idea to have solid proofs when tossing certain accusations around.

The only solid proofs would be finding old posts or the person admitting to it.
But there are also concrete assumptions that, with a bit of logic, leads to the same conclusion:
4chan is a niche stuff. 8chan is the niche of the niche. To know about 8chan means you also know what it's all about. But let's go through the naive reasonning that, indeed, they didn't knew what it was and were approached by a "nice sounding Mark".
1- The moment you step on 8chan, you can already see what it's all about. CP, racism and nazi gamergater crap.
2- They betrayed themselves on Twitter when they said "the nasty stuff will be dealt with" which means they KNEW about the "nasty stuff" (that is racism and child porn).
3- Their own posts on this place betrays their intentions and how they interacted about "loli posts" (to which they replied: It seems you're covered already, aknowledging that the place is crowded with CP/loli stuff) "sjw posts" (to which they replied: we don't intend to bend) "homophobic posts" (to which they replied: this homophobic quote could be in one of our game).

There are people in youtube comments actually defending 8chan saying that there's no child porn on there because loli drawings don't count. Erm no...

Representatives from an Austrian based company were greeted like this:

I checked the thread and the very first post in the thread said "Heil Hitler" and had a naked anime child next to it.
They should've noped the hell out of there at that moment.

and went on with the AMA.

It is quite safe to assume that the people that participated there were, at the very least, comfortable of being there.
But yes, if they really ARE frequent posters there only Mark knows.

I'll get 30 videos laughing about anthem and not a peep on this. I can't give them the excuse they dont want to get blacklisted, they wear ea blacklisting as a badge of honor.

Ultimately it confirms everything i think about these people, they are entitled shits that want an audience of entitled shits.

I really think they did it on purpose and should be grilled by every major outlet until they correct their bullshit actions.

But, and that's one of the reasons i think this was a pr-tactic, they can easily talk your point 2. and 3. away.

2. "The nasty stuff" is sadly commonplace on twitter, facebook, twitch, youtube, etc. (twitter only banned loli pics this week...) So they could easily spin this into we know how weird trolls could get. So with the nasty stuff they meant racism, homophobia, sexism, etc. but this stuff is everywhere. Of the cp stuff they weren't aware as they simply thought 8**** is a more niche 4chan.( And even 4chan has real gaming leaks from time to time.)

3. As they were aware of the trolls they tried to not let the AMA go down in flames and tried to give them something so they calm down and hopefully not derail with their "heil hitlers" and "big titted loli" garbage. And of course they meant the knight and not what the text said. You play a knight in one of their upcomming games...

Everything they said can be twisted into something they would've done exactly the same on reddit/twitch/etc.

The only thing they can't change enough is the fact they went to 8**** in the first place. But this was the "honest" mistake.

They knew what they're doing and how and when they would stop with the AMA. Enough time to singal the alt-reich, but soon (15 hours lol) enough to spin even that into "the pr-team was shocked and scared into making it worse, so they did nothing...".

They're bullshitting.

And if you mention this to them, be prepared to hear "No, Dan Olson framed us and is the real pedophile! You know he framed us because CP is illegal and banned on 8chan." They know it's not something anyone with a brain would believe, but they gotta try damage control in the hopes that it sways someone less discerning.

It's kinda crazy when I checked the YouTube comments and a lot of people were defending the whole AMA as "blown out of proportion" and "there is no CP on 8chan and those pesky SJWs on resetera are worse anyways". You might think about this board what you want but how are "SJWs" like they call people here worse than people who host CP on their site? It's just mind-blowing and disgusting how far the internet has come.

I mean when even youtubers like ReviewTechUSA make videos about stuff like that you know it's really bad.

If you want Pillars, get the Steam PC version. I also think the digital switch version has nothing to do with them. They only did physical copies AFAIK.
Not really interested in grabbing it on PC, just because I barely play mine these days. I'll keep an eye on the digital Switch release, though. Thanks for the heads up. If they're not involved, I'd love to play it.

loli drawings don't count.

I clicked on the AMA link and those drawings made me feel uncomfortable af. Those YouTubers are wrong and some research unveiled that those sort of fictional pictures are illegal in many European countries.

Here in germany for example spreading and offering fictitious CP drawings is forbidden and will be punished by up to five years in prison. Strangely enough the possession of fictional drawings (without offering them or making them available on the internet) is tolerated. At least according to wikipedia...
In other countries possession is illegal too.

Long story short: No, the pictures over there are illegal in many parts of the world. Rightfully so imo. They are disturbing.

Why are you censoring the word 8chan

8chan is in the thread title, just saying.
Also censoring it makes it more mysterious. Let's just name it and talk openly about it. It's the better approach imo.

Don't see my remark like i wanted to defend someone. It's just a good attitude to have in general.
Head in the sand in not a good attitude. A good attitude would be to see faults and learn from it rather than repeating it.

I'm sure you won't ask your company, whoever you work for, to do an AMA at 8chan, would you? Then you learned and that's a good attitude.

People and companies who are not remorseful or not admitting mistakes in a unison can go fuck off with that attitude. THQ died a long time for me. THQ died when they had a massive Humble Bundle sale.

I'm glad shits like THQ exist so we can learn from their mistakes. Unfortunately, the only lesson being thought here is that it's good to be a shithead and sweep your shit under a rug, stay silent and let it die out in silence. Great lesson, THQ.

And of course no one will get shit for it because they are all directors who own the shares in the company. When you excuse shitty behaviours like this, then all it teaches is that the world has gone bonkers, and it's more okay to be a racist or homophobic asshole than being a decent human being.

Just stop buying games from THQ, it's not that hard to not use money.

This is the attitude I'll live by. THQ got my last dollars, and will never get any. Shame, because there's so much hardwork by hardworking developers that I want to admire.

I assume you guys also mean boycotting games from Deep Silver and Coffee Stain Studios which are both owned by THQ.
I mean, it's not exactly organised.

Some might see the involvement of Reinhard Pollice (who is involved with AB), and lack of action by Lars and decide to blanket boycott the whole lot, others might restrict it to Gmbh and subsidiaries.

Is anyone else waiting for this to really blow up and have the specific parties be removed from THQN?

Depends on what your goal is, if your goal is an attempt at putting a dent in the company using your wallet then you have to boycott all of them.

If it's just supporting them financially that you want to avoid, then buying used is an easy way to legally play their games without giving them a dime.
On PC that's a different matter. THQN games are available on Humblebundle.com, it'll be a while til such one, but their weekly bundles let you assign where your money goes, so one could set it so all the money goes to humble and a charity with non towards THQN.
