Good thing I decided to check the forum today. I was seriously considering Darksiders III on this week's Xbox sale.

Fuck off, THQ.

edit: coming back to say what the fuck at everything

Thank You for taking the time to do this. Just so this can be as informative as possible, as Nappael pointed out, this is likely Fabian Neubauer. They were Darksiders 3's Junior Social Media Manager. That is, unless you intentionally excluded this as its not set in stone. In which case, ignore this post.

No, I just hadn't seen it, updated now.

I also added the CEO and developer comments as suggested by m_dorian and LewieP suggested.

As well, I missed the call with Reinhard from the Waypoint article, so I added that. It comes across as if both Reinhard and the CEO seem to be throwing Philipp under the bus here. Reinhard was posting in 8chan as well and he's on the board, so I don't think he should be getting away with it.

While likely, I would actually prefer this information to not be included. I'm almost definite, but don't want too much attention to be driven to it just in case it ends up being wrong and the guy suffers.
You're right. These are way too dangerous of subjects to risk associating with a potentially innocent individual.

So like, can the THQ Nordic Twitter get banned for linking to what is essentially a child porn site? Or is that asking too much of Twitter mods?

It took twitter years to ban Jacob Wohl. And they only did it today on account of him admitting to using fake accounts and announcing his plans to use fake accounts to influence the 2020 election. It is VERY hard to get banned from twitter because the higher ups are apathetic morons.

Real shit though anyone who's concerned about their career choices you should look at this and understand that if stupid pieces of trash like this can actually get into positions of power you can probably do all right.

It's funny the longer I think about this the more flabbergasted I am. Like what in the fuck is the company culture like at THQ Nordic that this actually happened? So many red flags would be raised for me. Especially when I can't find the site through a damn google search!

Really demonstrates how misguided this was that they turned boogie1488 into the voice of reason.

Yeah, but dude almost always does the "both sides" everything, and I mean everything, so seeing him actually saying "you fucked up" without any reservations should be a sign that you, y'know, fucked up.

"Hey, at least I'm not hanging out on a CP forum!"

It's pretty telling, to me, that this is something he feels is worthy of praise.

He's a scumbag and not really worth anymore discussion, regardless.

I don't want to punish people who had nothing to do with this decision but this is too much of a big deal to ignore.
How else will THQ learn they seriously fucked up if we continue to give them money?
Raising a stink like we already do is good, I think. Like many has been pointing, I doubt Nicklodeon, or other THQ businesses partner are happy to be associated with this fiasco. So maybe put the pressure on them, rather than the unfortunate dev stuck under shitty publisher.

Never thought I'd be reading a 69 page thread on a company promoting its brand in a CP board. Fucking hell. The CEO didn't even have the decency to comment.

I hope every press member is bombarding MS, Nintendo, Sony, Nickelodeon and every partner they have until everyone responsible is fired. This shit cannot stick in twenty-ninteen. Good lord.

I feel bad for the devs who are probably losing their minds at even seeing the link still fucking up. Particularly at Remedy, who thought they had a good publishing partner with Deep Silver. I hope devs don't lose jobs over some imbeciles at PR who wanted to help their pedo friends.

Unsurprisingly, Tim Soret is on Twitter attempting to downplay the whole thing (not going to link directly so to not amplify the thread, just know the worst are here to defend this crap)

Never been to any of the chans as from the way they are described it seems like as soon as I click on a link to go to any of them the FBI would be at my door.

The only thing I can think of is that "extremely online" people are impressive somehow in gaming PR job interviews and so are given jobs only to have their fucked up views come seeping out (CD Project Red)

Reinhard Pollice (Director of business and production development) and Phillip Brock (head of PR & Marketing) is pretty high up the chain.
This dude is part of THQ Nordic's Board and Management: http://www.thqnordic-investors.com/en/board-and-management/

Just to repeat: One of the 7 members of THQ Nordic's Board and Management team just said that a meme captioned "Cease Your Faggotry" could be from one of their upcoming games.

It wasn't just some PR guy.

It had the backing and active engagement of at least 3 important people, including their head of PR and marketing (Phillipp Brock), and one of their board members (Reinhard Pollice). Reinhard Pollice being literally one of the most powerful people at the company. http://www.thqnordic-investors.com/en/board-and-management/
Yeah, definitely seems like this goes way too far up the chain. It's not just some random people, but very high-ranking people in the company that are responsible for this. It would be terrible enough if it were some random employee doing it, but people like that being the one's responsible? Definitely going to take more than a few apologies to make this go away, as it should (or at least I certainly would hope it would take more than that to just make this all magically go away).

I mean, just like looking at the homepage of 8ch for instance in some of the screens provided in this thread, just pay attention to stuff like the Navigation bars on the site, the stuff being linked to and the terminology being used on the front page of all things. Even if someone didn't know anything about 8ch at first, just even like looking at the front page alone should have clued one in that the site is bad news. And if one then wants to make the argument that they were just in a rush or something, that they just didn't do the research, like, how do you not at the very least check the homepage at least and scope the place out if you're going to do an AMA for it?

Because I'm sure they get all kinds of requests for AMAs from all kinds of random websites and obviously they don't say "yes" to each and every last one of them, so there must be some type of process to these things, tho how they decide which ones they do say yes to. So how'd they wind up to saying "yes" to something like this in the first place? Even doing the bare minimum amount of research, it's clear the site is bad news. So since they obviously don't say yes to each and every AMA request they must get as a publisher the size of THQ Nordic, that there's some kind of process there even if a minimum one, how'd they wind up saying yes to 8ch of all sites with even a bare minimum amount of research?

How would that make sense, or be believable in any way, that they were that far in over their heads, and didn't even check out the homepage of the site or anything, and were that clueless about the site and the kind of content involved? It doesn't pass the smell test at all, especially with the level of employees involved who certainly should not be making those kind of mistakes at that level.

Nothing about this truly just being an innocent mistake, that they just didn't have any idea what 8ch was, didn't scope it out in any way whatsoever, and yet approved that site of all sites for an AMA regardless, especially with the level of the employees involved makes any sense. At least some of these people had to know exactly what they were doing, if not all of them (and from the sounds of it they've already started the process of trying to throw each other under the bus and denying they personally did anything wrong), so it better take more than just a few apologies and nice words to make this go away.
Check out this twitter thread. It touches on that same thought:

Speaking of which, I can't deny that the ArenaNet firings went through my mind as I was reading through this thread and trying to catch up on everything, and wondering if the people that seem to think the THQ employees didn't do anything wrong and were just hoodwinked and were completely oblivious would have been so kind to people such as Price when that all broke. Maybe I'm just too cynical at this point, but for some reason I'm skeptical that the people being as kind and benevolent with their interpretations of the THQ employees' actions here would have been as kind to Price.

This isn't a CDPR situation at all. That was one idiot PR guy who was fired straight after, this was multiple important people in the company. Including their head of PR and marketing (Phillipp), and one of their senior executives and major shareholders (Reinhard) who is one of the top dogs at the company.

The direct link to a board hosting child pornography is still there 8 hours later, even after statements from THQ, including a non-statement from CEO Lars Wingefors himself. Nobody is doing anything about it.

So not even the CEO is doing shit about it? Seems a pretty easy (even easier now) boycott to me.

Fuck off, THQN.

Also, the thread title should be updated with the CEO's "answer" this is not a "one employee" thing, everyone involved seems to be ok with it, even the CEO.

Jesus Christ.
