My favorite part is when they first tweeted that "Mark" was going to clean up the nasty stuff, so it'd be ok. And now they claim ignorance of the site's history? Dafuq?

I kind of believe the guy, someone who knows what 8chan is couldn't possibly think it was a good idea to do an AMA there... But shouldn't it have taken like 5 seconds google search to find out what the site is?? Unless he knew and just wants to get fired from his job for some reason? It just doesn't make any sense lol.

Edit: looking at some of his replies during the AMA, I guess he knew what he was doing and just wants to get fired?

To be fair, I've never heard of 8chan until this thread. Then again, it's not my job to engage with consumers via the internet, so whoever's decision this was probably should have known better.

I'm assuming that someone or some group within 8chan basically tricked these guys into doing the AmA then? I mean barring complete intention to post on a known CP site, it's impossible to believe they went into this eyes wide open not expecting this kind of response. And it's not like you just stumble upon 8chan without prior knowledge, so you'd have to assume there was some bad actor involved on one side or the other.

Regardless heads are going to role over this, particularly since it went on for a while and is getting picked up by major outlets. Damn I really messed up in life if this level of incompetence can get you to the position of marketing director at a multi-million dollar company.

JFC i'm so tilted by this, so many wrong things.

1. the idea
2. liking a tweet supporting said idea
3. going ahead
4. answering shitty stuff
5. saying that as a PR you didn't do a background check
6. saying as a Senior PR/Marketing person that you don't know how to manage your emotions
7. as a PR saying that you "didn't mean" this, not like your job is to actually mean stuff and use the right words.

from the screencaps I saw he answered a couple of normal questions and was then quickly inundated with replies that contained all kinds of slurs
I think there were mentions of bad posts from him in the Waypoint article, but that part seems to have been scrubbed, so it was probably not his real account. Probably quickly bailed once he realized what the PR guy got him into?

As much as I understand finding the sheer stupidity of this funny, THQ's twitter probably got a whole bunch of people to click on a link to the AMA, and made a ton more people aware of the site in question and possibly exposed them to some really vile shit.

The only possible good that can come of this is that the proverbial spotlight being on this will cause the cockroaches to have to scurry to their corner a little more.

Folks, they knew exactly what 8chan is. Don't believe their bullshit.

The reason they are shaken is because they expected widespread support from Gamergate. Unfortuntely for them, nazis aren't as popular as they seem on the vocal parts of the internet.

Can a company sue its own employees? This might be one of the biggest PR blunders ever, if big news organisations pick it up, the top google results for he company are going to mention cp.

I once accidentally send an email to the client that was meant to be an internal email. Nothing sensitive or inappropriate, but mostly the weekly work progress that was meant for internal deadlines. I was sweating buckets and thought I would be fired for this massive mistake.

Thank God I'm not Philipp.

I stopped being surprised about stuff like this a long while ago but I still wonder if these people truly believe that this stuff won't blow up the way it always does?

I never heard of 8chan until today, and Jesus Fucking Christ, ignorance is bliss...

If we had any doubt about THQ Nordic, well, there it is.

There's zero chance this was a mistake. The dude's replies show he knew where he was. He didn't nope the fuck out of there within a nanosecond, like any sane person would do.

I didn't know what 8chan was, but my immediate thought was "it's probably at least twice as bad as 4chan". And that's without even checking. I mean come the fuck on.

From the tweets they put out they sure knew what they were doing. They must of known if they need someone to try and keep it clean.

I've never heard of 8chan before, and I wish I never knew about it. Anyway, this is either some kind of super devious "any publicity is good publicity" stunt, or pure stupidity. I can't make my mind ...

So did THQ go through with the AMA or did they nope the f out as soon as they realized the site was a dumpster fire?

4chan is pretty infamous for their bullshit, so this dude decided to do an AMA on an offshoot website for people that thought 4chan was too tame? And acted like he didn't know what he was getting himself in to? Get the fuck outta here.
