Holy shit, man, they were doing so well...

Did no one else check this before approving? Is their marketing department ran by one person who has all the power to do whatever?

I'm glad they pulled that fucking Epic Game Store stunt on Metro: Exodus, now I don't have spending money on this company on my conscious.

THQ has no other option but to fire their PR team, if there is one thing I don't want my brand to be associated with that's pedophilia

Every single person involved in this AMA and the approval process needs to be shitcanned.

You performed social media outreach on a delisted child porn forum. If Ubisoft or Square Enix went on Tor, found a place where hitmen advertised their services, and held a Q&A regarding AC or Hitman, it still wouldn't be as big a fuck up as this.

Anyone who unironically says "all PR is good PR" doesn't have a fucking clue what bad PR can actually do (or at least how much it costs to handle).

I agree with you, and as I've said, I'll never buy a THQ Nordiq game, full stop. Having said that, EA was "voted" "Worst company in the world", how many years running?, and yet continues to increase in revenue and value year after year, so even that kind of PR is not necessarily bad for a company. But yeah, like I say, NOTHING...absolutely NOTHING EA has ever done has even come close to promoting their company through a site set up for child predators and nazi's to share images. Yet, will THQ Nordiq get voted "Worst Company of 2019"? Nah, it'll probably be EA because Anthem didn't turn out as good as people wanted. Gamers, especially on other parts of the internet, are among the worst people out there, and some of them probably only like THQ Nordiq because of this.

The THQ brand is cursed and you can't change my mind y'all.

Just what were the chances anyone sane thought this was a good idea at all.

This dude just tanked a company in under two hours. Incredible.
I won't be buying another product from them again in the future that's for sure. People blaming the PR guy, but I feel this stunt goes higher up the chain.

edit: Just saw the Kingdoms of Amalur pickup, and now I'm bummed.

I'm still going to hold onto to a fragment of hope that this was an independent action. It's bad enough 1 person thought this was a good idea.

The "apology" is one of the most bullshit things I've seen in quite some time.

They knew exactly what they were doing. You can't say you didn't know and then have the type of replies that you did in that AMA.

Even giving them the benefit of the doubt, it takes literally one Google search of the site's name to give you even the smallest taste of why that site for ANYTHING is a bad idea.

Fuck them.

THQ Nordic is about to be Gamers (capital G) favorite studio. They understand that Gamers say Gamer-words. lolol 2019.

The association is there and will still remain. For the whole brand, the company and all the devs that are bought by that company with the same name or whatnot.
Yeah that's not how it works just because the names are almost the same. Deep Silver/Koch have nothing to do with this besides them and THQ Nordic being owned by the same rich guy.

If a company is posting an AMA on any website, I highly doubt it would be just the PR person making the decision on what is being disclosed.

Yeah I don't know how 8chan works compared to how 4chan did it, but just given the nature of the site I can't really trust that every post with "THQN_Philipp" was actually him. At least some could just be people putting that as their name.

If they were all him though, then yeah it definitely makes his apology look fake as fuck
I'm not feeling like looking at the threads, but if they wanted to confirm their identity, they should be able to add something to the hashtag field, which produces a unique scrambled set of letters depending on what they type. It doesn't confirm your identity 100% because someone who figures out your code can enter the same thing, but if they used that feature they can generally be identified.
