Man the reactions in this thread. 8chan is terrible and all, but I'm almost 1000% certain THQ was fleeced into this and did no actual research on the website or their users. It's kind of that communities MO to fuck with people like this 'for the lulz'. Also super irresponsible of THQ, but unsurprising.

You have to be missing a large portion of your brain if you think that there's a single publisher out there that thinks associating themselves with pedophiles will go well .
Like you do realize they have several partnerships that will break if this is legit, right? Do you think Nickelodeon will let them keep the license for their games after they started endorsing sites with child pornography? This is not good publicity, this is not good PR. If legit it will only fuck up THQ and make them lose a fuckload of profitable partners.

I'm willing to bet at least someone in EA's PR department is sighing with relief right now that they won't be winning any greatest fail or worst company awards this year.
My guess is that someone at THQ Nordiq was like "hey let's do something subversive to attract attention and make an AMA in 4chan" and the heads up were "fine, cool", except they didn't realise the difference between that one and 8chan.

If you're a PR guy that works in that position for 18 years now and you don't know shit like this or can research this, you are either the worst in your job or don't give a fuck about being on board with people that like child porn. There is no excuse to this

They prefaced by saying they had assurances by moderators that the gross stuff would be weeded out. They knew what they were getting into.

Depends on the forum. You could get away with doing it on /v/ if you are trying to look edgy. It's /pol/ and the nsfw boards that truly get nasty.
To be fair big companies are large entities with multiple branching departments but basic logic would make you would think that the PR team would talk this over with the other heads of THQ.
