Now I don't know if this a good or bad news source but it starts off positive... and then very quickly by the end you'll be... well, yeah.

Feels like they should be 3 separate tweets/articles all things considered.

I feel so bad for laughing but holy fuck if that wasn't one of the most unexpected turns I've seen in a tweet.

Hmm, seems like some editorial direction could be useful here.

"Sending out a tweet about how nobody in the Bay area died from COVID"
"Wait hold on, can you also add this story about a bartender arrested for child porn?"
"What? No. That should be its own tweet. It's a completely different story and is tonally different from this posit-"
"Also can you add this story about a man arrested for eating his grandmother?"
"WHAT?! What is this?! Who are you?! Why are you asking me to-"
"And sent. I did it while you were complaining"

What, do you think tweets are free? They cost money, buster! Combine those suckers, save some cash!

Yea SF Chronicle does this too with the Chron App. It's kinda annoying, but they do it to get you in in one go versus sending out three separate tweets/app notifications and hoping one story draws you in.

I dont care for it, but the news game is struggling as it is so do what you must because that's all you can do.

If it had been three tweets, you would have been less likely to share it yourself, which is the goal of any news account: to post something that other people feel compelled to share. They could have posted something less salacious, or not combined good and bad news without transition, or phrased less "omg what"-ingly, but that's not serving their purpose. They posted something ridiculous, you amplified it to people who wouldn't have otherwise seen it. They did a good job.

That went from 0 to 100 to 9,000,000 REAL QUICK.

Jesus. Christ. I don't know how to respond to that.

It's a tweet promoting an aggregation story.

That is normal for SFist. Click the link and the story is a series of headlines, each with a summary graph and a link to the full story.

Imagine writing a single tweet to summarize the front page of Google News. Similar idea.

Often times when I come across crazy shit to read online, I'll say to my wife, "Hey honey just read this." and I'll just watch her face and I'll be able to tell which part she's reading just by facial expression.

This was great lmao
