Yo! Track 8 with that old school Transformers/G I Joe track in the background.

I'm definitely not! This album helped me through work the last couple days.
Dystopian/cyberpunk is in and relevant, and Jet Set has always been a very unique, upbeat version of that fiction. It's crazy times like the present when optimism is important.I feel Jet Set Radio has really bubbled up in the public consciousness over the last couple of years but particularly the last few months.
Finished the album. Still think it's just okay. I really only like "Rock the Beat!" and "Ba-de-ba".
This sounds great. Just saw that Hideki Naganuma tweeted about it too.
This is super hit-and-miss, many songs don't sound JSR-esque at all.
oh fuck this is really good2 Mello, who you might know for his work on 2064: Read Only Memories, released an original album of music inspired by Jet Set Radio called "Memories of Tokyo-To" and holy shit, it's so good. Christ. Fuck.
If you have no idea what Jet Set Radio sounds like, it's sample-heavy hip-hop with punchy brass, fuzzy synths, and funky basslines. You can listen for free and buy a download at his Bandcamp:

Some of my favs are "Here I Go", "Say Somethin", "Old to the New", "24 Hour Party People", "Rock the Beat!!", "Poison Jam", and "BIG BEAST", but listen to the whole thing, it's all amazing.
Thanks for the heads up! I'll make sure to give it a listen tomorrow. :-)
I made a JSR-inspired Spotify playlist a couple years ago, if anyone is interested. It has a bunch of the original soundtrack, with other tunes that have a similar vibe :

I will probably update it again soon.
2 Mello is already working on a follow-up album called SOUNDS OF TOKYO-TO FUTURE
