I did some light make ready work one year and part of it was going into occupied apartments and doing touch up painting on the walls/ceilings. I went to one place a few times that had two guys living there that worked for the local power company on the lines. Their apartment was nothing but porn. Magazines literally everywhere and shelves of black spine VHS tapes. Thanks for helping remember that.
You're welcome! I hope it was a good memory.

All those outlets could be for anything, but sheer amount of lights make think it was used to shoot porn.

There's freaking stage lights in the conservatory lmao

This has to be a home customized for people with very specific needs, like people that require constant medical care and medical support equipment. That's my guess.

Am I the only one reacting to the price of over a million pounds? I mean it's very rare for houses to reach those prices here in Sweden at least .. it's like 12 million SEK.

I guess it is in London?

Yeah it's in a boring but respectable suburb in outer London. Don't get much for your money round that way, albeit prices have dropped recently. At 3,000 square feet it is quite large for a London house.

Sockets aside, I think it's hideous anyway. Beige everywhere. Those sand coloured bathrooms that developers suddenly decided looked cool. Shit blinds. Horrible built-in MDF units to try and make up for the fact that every inch of storage has been converted into a room. Absolutely nowhere to keep anything. Garden is meh, though a decent size. No character. Boring neighbourhood.

Doesn't explain the million downlights and the sockets near the ceiling. Just some cunt with no taste who wants to make absolutely sure he has a socket for every single one of his 17 televisions and projectors and associated gubbins and hang the aesthetics. I couldn't live somewhere so ugly.

At first I thought it was neat to have a dedicated audio/video room then the other rooms started to creep me out. Yeah that shit is not natural. I do appreciate the small crawl space in the bathroom though for when you need a quick get away.

UK plugs give me the creeps. I will totally die within 5 mins in that house.

the absolute state of London at this house being >ÂŁ1 mill
London is stupidly expensive, but ÂŁ1 million can buy you a nice place - this just isn't one of them.

I live up North, where property prices are a little more sensible, and ÂŁ500k-ÂŁ600k can buy you something a lot more impressive / tasteful.

I'm guessing previously-installed hoists for someone with mobility problems.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinnner

I've seen similar setups before, A family friend who we called Aunty had mobility issues and the house was somewhat similar with seemingly auxiliary sockets everywhere but you know what, they are super fucking useful and help the disabled who cares. It would not deter me from purchasing ever.

The price would...

Why aren't the covers white to match the walls.
The cost to replace them all would be quite hefty too. Could be used as an argument to lower the selling price.

The little bathroom door is just jarring to me, why do some of the sockets near the ceiling.

the only rational explanation is someone ran a start up business in there and had it set up as an office. Or a doctor/dentist.

or they really, really hated extension cords

I can only imagine that this was a sort of long-term medical care house. The layout of the outlets makes me think these rooms must have had multiple beds each with lots of medical equipment of all sorts plugged in.

Honestly, given everything else also with the way the walls are laid out with the markings, that might be the most logical explanation. The one medical facility my father goes to definitely has a more "house" look to it, even to some degree in the building, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case.

You can see what it looked like when they lived there in the Zoopla link. No obvious signs of medical equipment. Pool tables, hot tubs, normal bathrooms etc. I don't think this is it.

I'd actually love that porch. So many new plant friends would live in it.

I do not have enough devices for those walls though.

What about before them? Or were they the first owners?

Fair point - but the decor is not what you would expect for some medical house thing either. Those bathrooms are absolutely classic for an upscale residential development from the last decade. Not what you would have in a functional house for invalids. The kitchen also. But maybe they put that stuff in and left the wall sockets? Possible I suppose.

If you told me having all those outlets would be an easy fire hazard, I would believe you.

Obvious really, the electrician had one drill with a very short cable and no extension lead, so to put another socket in on the other side of the room he needed extra sockets at regular intervals :-)

As someone who cares not a jot for aesthetics - I can see the appeal of having sockets fucking everywhere. The Ceiling ones... - okay but if you are going to have 90 around the room, why not make it 100 and bung some up the top there? That house doesn't put me up nor down. Which is handy as there is sockets at midlevel too :D

Yeah, now that I've thought about it, this house is basically the opposite of my apartment. It'd be nice to have even half the amount of power sockets shown here.

Holy hell, the listing says there are only three bathrooms but the floorplans make it look like there are five, each with its own standing shower. I approve.

Someone local please contact the realtor and find out what's up with all the plugs and having so many pot lights a foot apart.

I feel bad for laughing after seeing it's probably for someone with medical issues.
Hmm, but why so many plugs everywhere? Someone with medical issues (say ventilator, medical bed...) might have a specialized bedroom, but not every wall in every room. Though I guess if you have enough money you would make your whole house accessible so you can hang out wherever you want for the day.

Some people were saying the odd places were probably for hoists and stuff like that.

Would you have a disabled person go up two flights of stairs to the attic rooms? Yet they still have plenty of sockets there?

Also, even if you do need lots of sockets, you can always use extension cables. There is no need to have so many right there on the wall
