The main screen is the largest screen, with the second screen being at the bottom and movable with the right control stick. With the wallpaper up top. This would work great for 2D games, but for 3D games, something else might have to done.

I would love to see some DS and 3DS games upscaled to HD like A Link Between Worlds, Super Mario 64 DS and Kid Icarus Uprising. (Which was trending the other day... for what I don't know)

It works great where the input on the 2nd screen is minimal and doesn't require precision or particularly quick reaction. Ninja Gaiden DS would be basically impossible for example. And oh god, Elite Beat Agents...

Not exactly. It depends on the game but games like Mega Man ZX that only used one of the screens actively with the second screen for secondary info like maps, held items and such can work fine. Kid Icarus can't work without reworking the controls since you need a touch screen for that one.

I forgot about Kid Icarus! Now there's a game that could use an HD Remaster on Switch...

Kid Icarus can be adapted to having the reticle be controlled via motion or the analog stick and the character portraits be on the bottom of the screen. probably one of the more adaptable games

Rather it has shown that any developer can bring DS games to all systems, depending on the functions of the second screen.

Yeah if the second screen functions aren't overtly engaged with the actual gameplay, it's doable.

Stuff like minimaps and menu controls can be easily duplicated on the Switch.

I'm hoping Konami learns from what Capcom is doing, and gives us the DS Castlevania games.

That definitely is one of the solutions (analog stick is a bit iffy) but that's adaptable and still requires a rework of the controls and HUD vs. a emulation/port like the Mega Man collection where almost nothing needs to be done to the game itself, just the software running around it.

Kid Icarus looks pretty ugly in HD so it needs a full remake anyway. or just skip straight to a sequel

DS games have always been there for a possibility for one screen devices.

FF Crystal Chronicles for DS - both games have been on Wii and WiiU.

This really, really depends on the game. Some games, like the ZX series, use the touch screen as a secondary screen that you don't have to look at or interact with very much. This solution works well enough in those cases. But it's also possible for games to treat both screens as equally important all the time. Or they could use the stylus as the primary method of control. And there are probably more complicating factors than that. DS games got creative.

This isn't an issue that can be solved all at once. The developers of each individual game would have to rethink the whole situation on a case by case basis.

The World Ends With You on the other hand definitely shows the limitations of adapting some games.

Neither the mobile or Switch versions quite capture the essence of the original release.

clearly you've don't know about Wii U where they had DS virtual console already and done this already years ago?

Emulators did that years ago, and it still would be an issue for a bunch of games; Big Bang Mini, Elite Beat Agents, Kid Icarus Uprising, etc.

You're not wrong but why Nintendo specifically? All those third parties don't have an excuse either!

Games like that would obviously need entirely 'new' versions beyond just having a second smaller screen windowed on the side.

I would love a new version of Theatrythm Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest for the switch.
