One of the devs (think she's a writer or someone on narrative) wrote an article on Kotaku which had child porn (it was like cartoon stuff with fictional characters but still weird)
I know I tabbed out of the stream when it came on and was annoyed to see it still going a few minutes later.
Honestly, I really didn't care for it during the event. From what I can tell, it has no gameplay at all. It's a PS5 showcase event, yet for all I know this could be a simple visual novel or simplistic adventure game. The high school twee aesthetic also did nothing for me.
Just felt so out of place. But at the same time, looking back on it, I'm glad that it was a part of it because of that.

I mean, it's furries designs. I was put off from it from the get-go. It also didn't help that you didn't really know what kind of game it was and highschool stuff is eh.

This + the large group of gamers who don't like anthro and anything resembling LBQTQ means a good chunk of people are against it. Didn't help that they showed this on the main PS5 event where tons of hardcore gamers were watching.
It's this. I highly doubt the majority of dislikes are from people aware of the writer controversy.

Because it's furry and queer, also because the developer have been involved in pedo accusations, I believe. I'm guessing that because of the comments on the video.
I like the art style of this game, it looks like a cartoon. I have no idea about the plot and gameplay, tho. It's a interesting game, but I don't think this does the cut for most people, even those open-minded.

The characters are weird and associated with furries.
And if you look at a lot of the other indie titles, they get downvoted too. Bugsnax looks great, but it has a lot of dislikes. People really dislike indie games and associate it with shovelware.

Can't speak for why people are disliking the video but man this was not the event to show this game off. It was simultaneously unique and boring for me. I couldn't wait for them to move on past this trailer.

Is it a queer narrative focused game??? I just checked the trailer but i don't see how you would come to that conclusion by just watching the trailer. To me it just seems like a sad-ish story.....

It looks like Life is Strange, If you took out the stuff that made it accessible. Its fine, im happy lbgt and furry people might be getting a game thats 100% for them, truly unapologetic, and im glad Sony showcased that a major show.

I imagine a lot of it is the art style + a complete lack of gameplay (or even an indication of how it plays) and of course the usual "Keep gay stuff out of my gamez!!!". And I guess some of it is because of the writer who wrote an article with cartoon porn of characters like Misty from Pokemon (assuming that's the article/writer in question). I'm gonna assume it's mostly the former though since I doubt that many people even know about that article.
I'm willing to bet that most people do not know or care about that article and hate the game because of its theme.

I think it's the heavy furry narrative and it clearly not being a game made for the straight white male demographic is what is going to get it a lot of hate. That it has ties to that one writer who wrote that Kotaku last year is very sad but I don't think the 12,000 people disliking the video were aware of it. I think they were like my friends who watched the stream and went "Furry? Hard pass"
there's definitely some brigading going on but I'll just say that it was one of the most boring trailers I've ever seen. it didn't showcase a single interesting thing gameplay wise. Also the Pepsi commercial song didn't help.
I feel so old and out of touch but what is furry and why do people hate it? And no i am not going to search it... Not born yesterday. I just saw some animals. So whats wrong with it?
