My country also has serious transphobia problems but the UK seems to be another level.

Learning a new skill is only helpful insomuch as you enjoy learning it and/or applying it. Yes it can be used to help others but the value of that is completely up to the individual and perhaps who that individual helps. One day we will all be in the ground, the people you helped will be gone, or your contributions will be forgotten. That's okay. You get one life, and you're the only you who will ever exist. Generally yes it is most beneficial to find balance, most things are fine in moderation, even "productive" things. Try your best, survive first, and then try to find happiness in this world that is organized to break you down and extract wealth from you. If you can do that and find the energy and resources to help others or fight for change, that's amazing! But don't let anyone shame you or beat you down for trying and failing. Laziness isn't real, the over emphasis on productivity is meant to guilt you into sacrificing more of yourself despite the material conditions of your life. Just try your fucking best, and have some fun in this one life when you can :) .
