the snes list being Chrono Trigger and Secret of the Stars and Paladin's Quest and 7th Saga might give Cross a better chance
Yeah, lets not get crazy here. CT and FF VI were great games, no question, but VII broke the JRPG "floodgates".What?
VII was gigantic, probably outsold all of them combined and VI was considered to have sold poorly in the US lol. VII is the boom.
no, vs Agarest War 1 + 2 + 3. Now that would be a poll! (not sure if there was 3).Phantasy Star + Chrono Trigger versus Record of Agarest War + Atelier Iris 3
Paladin's Quest rocks and I will hear no badmouthing it. Most underrated SNES RPG IMO.
A SNES vs Genesis/SCD poll might be fun except more people here probably played on the SNES than Genesis or Sega CD. Something like:
The technical showcase - Chrono Trigger vs Lunar: Eternal Blue
The fan favorite - Final Fantasy VI vs Phantasy Star IV
The SRPG - Ogre Battle vs Shining Force 2
The Action/RPG - Illusion of Gaia vs Landstalker (picked Illusion of Gaia because I believe it sold a lot more than Terranigma or Secret of Mana due to the NoA support)
Lufia 2 & Breath of Fire 2 vs. Glory of Heracles 3 & Last Bible 3
I can't tell if this is saying that Secret of Mana is bad or 7th Saga is good but either way I'm mad.the snes list being Chrono Trigger and Secret of the Stars and Paladin's Quest and 7th Saga might give Cross a better chance
I can't tell if this is saying that Secret of Mana is bad or 7th Saga is good but either way I'm mad.
Oh god damn it7th saga is bad imo. The game it's based off (Elnard) is ok, but nothing I'd put on a pedestal. But the localisers made 7th saga almost masochistic by upping monster stats and lowering player level up stats.
Secret of Mana is not in my post though lol
Honestly, I say that FFXIV with the addition of Shadowbringers has surpassed VI and VII in my book, although I put it roughly even with Chrono Trigger now.CT + Snes FFs will obviously win.
A lot of people on Era (Or internet in general) actually thinks CT and FFVI are objectively the 2 best Jrpgs and that everyone should think the same despite having another as fav.
Still like CT more than CC tho haha but voted on the second option for the PS1 FFs, so it worked to get mine.
Chrono Trigger vs Hollow Knight would probably be the best (or worst) Discontent thread poll for the ultimate high horse fanbase war.
Which game had the better soundtrack: Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross?
Which of these games do you feel had the better overall soundtrack?www.resetera.com
I think Cross would take it again more than likely.
Imagine pairing two of the greatest JRPGs ever and have them compete with *anything* else. ^^
Trigger + FFVI as a team alone wins this.
Discontent, I was waiting for this type of thread - all the cards are now on the table. 16-bit VS 32-bit goodness.
No question about it, without hesitation, I voted for Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV, V and VI.
This was tough for me. Chrono Trigger is my favorite game. I really enjoyed Chrono Cross as well (especially the soundtrack). FF4 and FF6 have great parties. As does FF7 and FF9. So it came down to FF5 vs FF8.
5 won because of this guy...
Only because his name is Butz and I, like many, enjoy Butz very much.
Did you do straight polls of Chrono Trigger vs FFVI or vs A Link to the Past?
I never bumped this thread originally but I think it deserves a bump in light of the (not so) shocking results here:
Stronger lineup: SNES Final Fantasy trilogy vs PS1 Final Fantasy trilogy?
Playing through FFV right now thanks to the pixel remaster, it's so much fun but it's so overlooked. I definitely think I prefer the SNES trilogy over the PS1 trilogy, love VII but the other two aren't as good as IV or V or VI imo.www.resetera.com
Just look at yourselves, era.
Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV, V and VI
So one incredible game (CT), one excellent game (V), one good game (VI) and one ok game (IV)
vs
Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX
One excellent game (IX) two very good games (VII, VIII), and one poor game (CC)
Pretty easy win for the SNES lot imo
Makes absolute sense. The PSX games are no longer burdened by Cross and the SNES ones are no longer buoyed by Trigger. I even kind of foresaw this result in my post here lol:
The slightly disingenuous part of this poll is that it's asking for which collection is the best based on the platform but it doesn't account for what games were available for either platform.
I'm not quite sure I follow. You mean the SNES trilogy being on the PS1 too?
Yes. I get the purpose of the poll, to determine the overall quality of a batch of games but ultimately it's a choice that no one ever had to make.
True. I wasn't trying to be disingenuous though, I didn't mention platforms at all in the OP. And I'm fully on team Cross here.
I'm on team "these are all great games you can play on the same platform".
