Has anyone tried to clean or service their PS5, or just pry off thy cover and check it the dust traps.
Are they working as designed?

I don't think it's ever recommended to use a vacuum to clean dust off electronics as it can leave behind a static charge.I'm curious what kind of vacuum I would need to properly clean these
They do to an extent but you still need to remove the fan to clean it as the fan itself has no dust guard but it's a simple 4 screws.Has anyone tried to clean or service their PS5, or just pry off thy cover and check it the dust traps.

Probably not, but this is such a good demonstration.I don't think it's ever recommended to use a vacuum to clean dust off electronics as it can leave behind a static charge.
I was doing some cleaning last week and decided to pull my plates off to clear out the dust. It was very simple, used a small handheld vacuum to suck out the dust traps. I have no idea if anything came out or not as it was surprisingly clean in there.

They literally say that the holes are meant for users to be able to vacuum out the dust though.I don't think it's ever recommended to use a vacuum to clean dust off electronics as it can leave behind a static charge.

can you at least turn it on?Scared to attach a HDD
Scared to use Rest mode
Scared to vacuum the vacuum points.
Waiting for SSD expansion terror.

Sure, once I can buy one I'll give it a try, but it's probably not going to result in much of anything happening.
Yeah, but how much static are you expecting the vacuum to build up by just running the vacuum over the hole for a few seconds? Besides, the hole is probably quite far from the electrical components.Presumably with an electronics/anti-static vacuum specifically though?
Im super careful because I'm absolutely one of those idiots that's killed my PC by vacuuming it before. Static kills electronics.
Vacuuming a PS5 (and other consoles) is probably safer that vacuuming most PCs, because the big flat sheets of metal inside act as ground plates. So static charge is not as likely to be concentrated in one specific spot by sensitive electronics.Presumably with an electronics/anti-static vacuum specifically though?

The only reason I haven't touched mine is because that stand is a pain in the ass to adjust in the spot I have the console
