Comedians. Hahahah! :DWho's saying this? Only negative comments I've seen are some comedians saying MS is copying BOTW.
Because a particluar part of MS' base was cultivated to be dudebros since day 1. There were more of them during the OGBox and 360 days, but yeah.
But what Microsoft announced with Rare is a welcoming start to the lack of storytelling games that Microsoft is missing.
I think outside of America people moved to PS4 more, especially for Fifa, in America a lot of them still are on Xbox though.Given the disparity in sales and how PS4 is the default console for most, I'd not be surprised if there were a lot of dudebros not even on Xbox anymore.
I mean, which is the default for FIFA and CoD these days?
These people complain about anything MS no matter what. Its the same with that Halo and Gears thread. First it was "MS has no games" and now the goalpost has moved to "MS has no 3rd person realistic looking game"
It makes a bit more sense if you replace "presence" with "pretence." Still a weirdly-phrased title though."The presence where Xbox making cartoonish games is absolutely ridiculous"
There's some stuff missing in that sentence to be honest, not only the "presence" stuff... doesn't make much sense
It's especially weird when some of the most popular games of today have similar artstyles and look, such as Fortnite, Overwatch, LoL, Dota etc.

I don't listen to idiots. Do you?The livestream chat was filled with people mocking all the cartoony kiddy games. What was funny is a lot of people were also spamming Banjo in the chat.
I was gonna post this as a response to the thread, but your post was too relevant to not quote:
I think a lot of Nintendo's IPs are meant to evoke nostalgia, since most of them already consist of iconic characters and stories that are charming to us gamers who want to buy them to experience something new, but also reminds us of our childhood.
I think Microsoft wants to try this until something sticks. Which is a problem since most people nowadays want good graphics and amazing looking worlds
What? No need to call out Sony and Nintendo.I just love how diverse their lineup is now.
Compared to other publishers and other platform holders there doesn't seem to be a template rheir studios are sharing for most of their games. They are taking swings at things.
No need to get offended. When a big critical game does something it usually gets attributed and seen as the one to make something popular, even if it's done before.Frankly I find the subtle narrative that toon shaders and grassy fields were seemingly not a thing until BOTW to be much more tedious. That said Everwild looks amazing, can't recall seeing many people complaining about art direction.
People complained about the 1st trailer for the Sonic movie because it out right looked bad, not because it was cartoony. Expressing disappointment in a game looking cartoony isn't really any different than expressing disappointment in a game looking realistic and we all know the response the latter would getI don't think it is bad that a studio makes a cartoony game. I do think it is disappointing because it wasn't something I was looking for and most likely not something I will play based on the art style. The same way I didn't play windwaker because I don't like the art style. I do take offense to the fact that this is somehow a "new" thing. I have held this opinion for years. My complaints were about cartoony games, and that has to do with personal preference and a dislike for art styles. A person like me shouldn't be attacked for sharing disappointment in a chosen art style. Also a studio shouldn't be attacked for choosing the art style they want. It doesn't mean I can't come out and say I don't like it. I mean look at the first Sonic Movie trailer. Commentary is good and discussion is good.
