it is usable as a controller for the Let's Go pokemon series of games. it has bluetooth functionality for Pokemon go. the form factor is an honest to goodness pokeball. you got a mew.
so why, you ask is it one of the worst? (and keep in mind this is all subjective)
the battery life is mediocre ( i get maybe an hour of play on the switch out of it before it has to be recharged.
the form factor (while nice for a controller style) isnt very comfortable in the hand, mainly due to the placement of the button and control nub.
the PokemonGo connectivity is just the 'PokemonGo Plus' in a worse form factor
with so much tech being put into the ball, you'd expect it to be better than the Pokewalker, and im disappointed to say... Its not.
the interactivity for the pokewalker was far more interesting with the pedometer (and watts for items), small LCD screen, ability to get items from watts, or randomly from your pokemon, if two pokewalkers are near each other they can swap data land recieve things like in-game items, you could catch pokemon ON the device.
and finally, nintendo supported the pokewalker with replacement parts such as belt clips and silicone skins that you could customize your pokewalker with.
Edit: and as of E3, nintendo has said that the Poke Ball Plus will be able to 'take your pokemon with you', this $50 accessory will NOT be usable as a controller for Sword and Shield.
