Developers that don't understand why we're having a problem with this
I feel for you
That's a solid take... if you completely skipped all discussions of this so far.I am not really following, Devs getting much bigger cut and extra money makes somehow EGS bad?
They actually are asking me to pay more, though. Lots of key selling sites, including official ones, had discounts on preorders and new games. Epic Game Store ensures this doesn't happen. Division 2 was the first PC game I've bought at full price on launch in a long ass time. And consumers are not mischaracterizing developers ? I see quite a bunch of greedy developers comments here. Yes the developers are looking for money because you know they have a studio to run, people to pay. The Epic deals are too good to pass on. And its not like they are asking you to pay more or there is any other barrier of entry to EGS other than downloading a client.
What are you the lead developer of so I can be sure not to buy it?

Internal studios and directly producing the game is not a thing anymore?
Gotta love our ala Carte future where if you want an individual product you need 18 different avenues of access for these products. Not only is this shit not going away it's gonna ramp up
Based on the sample sizes the devs have for Metro/Division 2 it clearly works
So wait
Borderlands 3 gets announced next week and all signs point to that being EGS exclusive as well. Then there's Metro Exodus and Rebel Galaxy Outlaw which are also exclusive.
Their siren song is working
Oh yeah...forgot about that acquisition. No wonder The Outer World isn't coming to Steam...
That's not a loaded image at all. That's a solid take... if you completely skipped all discussions of this so far.
If so, here, to bring you up to speed:
Fuck it. 2019 is the year I get back into halo.fuck, there's always halo to fill my need for space adventures though so hehe.
I don't play games on PC so I'm not attuned to Steam (don't even have it installed) or GOG or anything, but is so many people's disappointment simply down to having one more launcher/store on their desktop? Does it take a massive amount of space? Genuinely wondering if I missing something.
EGS fanboys and steam's detractors are always quick to point out that there are a whole host of games that you can only get on Steam. But many of those are there simply because it was convenient for the developer. I'm also referring, though perhaps not wording it well, in particular, to third party exclusivity. I have less moral objection to first party exclusivity, where games are often made with some degree of responsibility on the part of the publisher to advertise their own platform.

That's what some individuals apparently want, so we have our own platform wars and shit.

Yup, and people can't use the "Take 2 said putting exclusives in the Epic Store is not good business" card because the Private Division deal shows that was bullshit. It's happening, and it probably will be permanent exclusive, even.I would assume all of the games Gearbox is announcing next week are EGS timed exclusives
Said in a thread amongst a sea that freely insults developers trying to get a better part of their own cake by going to the EGS.
oh, I'm gonna deal with it alright. This is why I have a ps4. used copy it is.
Maybe a tiered cut? Its just a flat cut right now right? i mean, besides the newly implemented mega sales one. The majority of games on Steam are single player and dont need leaderboards or matchmaking or cheat detection or workshop yet they still get charged the same right? If thats not the case already it should be changed.
Internal studios and directly producing the game is not a thing anymore?
yep yep!
