I kinda hoped they would have let us re-use the grey warden from the 1st game. It is disapoiting that he was let go.

Wasn't the reason why The Warden only have passing mention in Inquisition is because the character simply have too much variable (multiple origins, mutiple endings, multiple possible personality, etc) to appear properly ? Unlike Hawke and (probably) The Inquisitor. And Inquisition's Default World State use "Ultimate Sacrifice" ending for The Warden's fate.

Solas is back... damn it... fuck it, I will have my next play-through with him in Inquisition.

I assume you haven't played Trespasser ?

I thought that looked great. Probably not gameplay but the premise of "no chosen ones" is really refreshing.

And I will never get tired of Varric.

I was hoping the protagonist of the game would be the same guy we controlled in dragon age origins. It bothers me a bit to have my char finally lead the grey wards of ferelden only to stand aside for the rest of the franchise.

I used to be where you are on this but I think the Warden's story is told. And I like that they are sticking to the concept that Dragon Age is not about any singular person. It is the story of Thedas in the Dragon Age.

No, still neck deep in the regular game. Although I did accidentally see something regarding his path on Youtube. I may pick up the DLCs.

Every Dragon Age seems removed from the previous one to be honest. This trailer looked like nothing we saw in previous games. And not in a "this is a new place" kind of way, but in a "this universe has no consistent artstyle" way.
That's definitely not true for this one, this just looks like Goldman's concept art but 3d.

Yeah, Trespasser is just. The best.

Trespasser is also the reason I can say it's "only" been five years and counting since the previous DA. <_>

possibly but EA certainly has the capital to fund the game. Despite being an extreme challenge to have such a char (specially to make it interesting to newcomers) i still hoped Bioware would take the challenge head on instead of just letting it go.
Personally starting at the head of a powerful elite organization is much more interesting then rethreading the "rise to power hero trope" that the inquisition did.

the Warden dies to kill the archdemon though.
I chose to have a child with the witch. Having a child with the archdemon souls was too interesting to pass up. pity it didn't ammount to anything. I was hoping it would have made for interesting twists in the sequels.

I can see where you are coming from. I still think my char had a few more adventures in him specially as he finally managed to actually lead a (supposedly strong) grey warden company.
IMO he almost never felt as a leader of the organization he deserved after bringing the ferelden grey wardens back from annihilation .

I also think it would be really cool to have the grey warden leader co-operating with the other old tevinter mage (architect?). After all we never found out why the golden citadel became black and what caused the blight to be contained there.

Don't misunderstand me. I won't skip the game just because the original char ain't there. Who know maybe this new protagonist will be my favorite (which i doubt because he is voiced).
I just wish that i got to my my warden finally living his objective. It is disapointing to me not see my char living his "dream/purpose" except in a few written words after all the challenges he went through.

It is specially disappointing when the new protag are very close to retreading the same story the original game has. I feel like the new DLCs manage to make more interesting and engaging storylines than many quests from the base game.

I'm not sold on the look just yet. However watching this trailer was a much more interesting gameplay experience than playing Inquisition, so it is promising that they listened to some feedback and are moving in the right direction.

At this point I just want Dragon Age 4 to be good, even if it ended up fairly 'safe' lol.

The last time Bioware try to get ambitious/experimental, we get Anthem and Andromeda....

I still think there is interesting stuff to be done with a Warden protagonist, especially certain versions of the Hero of Ferelden from Origins. As I recall, I think Morrigan or Leliana maybe mentions that the Warden is off looking for a cure to the Calling in Inquisition. That seems interesting and anything Darkspawn / Old God related benefits from having the Warden deal with firsthand.

My only issue with the rotating cast of playable characters is that they do that yet keep bringing back old companions. So it just ends up feeling like playing Mass Effect except if you had a different Commander every time. Kind of loses the impact of reuniting with old companion characters if its never with the old playable character that built a relationship with them.

So it was awesome to see Morrigan again in INquisition but doing that as the Inquisitor was just kind of flat, compared to if I had been able to see Morrigan (and the Old God Kid) as my Warden who romanced her in Origins. Probably a similar thing in DA4, if you romanced Solas. If it was you playing as your Inquisitor confronting Solas after you romanced him, that's probably going to have a greater impact than if its some new guy that has no personal connection to Solas confronting him.

On paper its fine having a rotating chair of playable characters but constantly bringing back everyone else but the playable character just makes it feel kind of like the developers are just trying to avoid having to import major stuff across games like Mass Effect, instead being able to just toss in little connective lines of dialogue and such.

I think DA2 was the strongest hook of the three games - just a refugee working his way up in the world - so, creatively, this is exactly the sort of thing I'm interested in.

Tevinter looks crazy.
Yea, the 10 year story was great as well with the family dynamic but they didn't stick the landing. I still enjoyed it though.

I hope Varric's not a companion again - he's fun and all but didn't work nearly as well in Inquisition as he did in 2. Overall, the teaser was really unimpressive to me in general but DA's the one Bioware series i'm still attached to so remaining optimistic.
